The book provides a useful way of accepting and implementing change within the organization successfully by using the story of Michael. I agree with the reader that the best course of managing change is first to accept that difference exists. There is no way that an organization can grow by sticking at the same level. When the change is received, it gives the management time to get ready for that change by coming up with different strategies to adapt to the changes that might affect the organization's operation; when all the precautions have been put in place, there is indeed no need of monitoring the change and noting its impact on the performance of the organization so that corrective actions can be put in place to ensure that the change is managed in a way that gives the organization a competitive advantage.
After the monitoring of the change, it's good to adapt the change by accepting the new way of doing things and leaving the old way as a way of ensuring that the organization moves with speed to maintain its operations despite the changes in the working environment just like ion the book how a change in Cheese station Cis a better way of managing change. After monitoring, I agree with the book that it's now the best stage of implementing the change within the organization because all factors surrounding the differences would have been addressed, leading to effective implementation of change for the organization's benefit.
I agree with the book that when change is accepted and evaluated before its implementation within the organization, it may result in enjoying at the last stage because all the factors would have been considered and addressed before the real implementaion of change within the organization. For employees who accept the responsibilities in the new workstation, it is essential for them not to be comfortable because they may find themselves back to the old day of doing things. Therefore, continuous assessment and implementation of change must become the new culture of doing something with time.
The book provides the best way of ensuring that the organization's performance is high by providing the best alternative of constantly inspecting the entire process even if it is working perfectly. Any possible effect of change in the operations can be identified. The gathered information be a helpful way of coming up with appropriate strategies that can be used to ensure that organizations remain competitive despite the predicted changes in both internal and external business environments. An example in the book illustrates how inspecting for change is essential even if the organization is operating well and is in stable condition. He had a great supply of cheese, but he did not relax and start enjoying the success of the businesses. He went further and explored to understand what was happening in detecting any changes in the working environment that might affect the organization's operation.
The illustration by Michael was interesting, and it made the discussion lively. When members were asked to have diner later and have more conversation, they accepted, illustrating how the story was conveyed—the meaning it had on impacting the audience's thinking. The break provided in the book through the discussion performed by Michael was essential to allow group members time to reflect and connect to their personal experiences based on the forum that Michael shared.
The explanation of Nathan from the story in the book about how the family is making losses for not predicting, monitoring, and accepting change. The company of Nathan is being forced to close stores because of failure to manage change. The statement by Nathan in the book is true because when the management of the business organization does not predict changes in an external business environment, it ends up being affected negatively, resulting in the business's closure. The worst mistake for the business organization is not to scan the changing external environment, which is affected by economic, social, and technological factors.
Additionally, I agree with the statement made by Nathan that sometimes it's hard to change the operations, mainly if it is affecting the core business of the business organization. That mistake affected the businesses that the family of Nathan owned because they feared losing the business's core operation. As a result, the company suffered negatively by reducing its performance, resulting in some stores' closure (Johnson, 2015). Therefore, it is not good to ignore changes even if the transaction cost is high and the risk of losing the core part of the business because if the change happens and affects the company, it may result in the closure of the business.
To support the book's argument, organizations that perform SWOT and PESTLE analysis have a clear understanding of both internal and external business environments, making it easier for the expected changes that might affect the business's operations. Those who do not adequately evaluate the external and internal business environment get into the new era through transition without appropriate planning.
On implementing ways that will ensure the organization adapts in the changing environment, the recommendation made by the book is trough because the emphasizes on analyzing and through planning the consideration should be training people and providing the required environment by giving out tool start will enable people to implement the new change effectively. Sometimes organizations fear implementing further changes because they lack the required skills to implement the recent changes. As a result, it may be costly to the business organization because it will have two options of either training the existing employees to gain the required knowledge and skills or hiring new employees with the necessary skills and expertise, and the two options are costly. The primary objective of businesses is to maximize profits, and the increase in cost due to the adaption to change within the organization discourages most organizations from implementing the changes the organization is facing.
Effectively making the right decision on whether to accept and implement change or continue with the old way depends on the analysis of the business operations based on cost-benefit analysis associated with adopting the new way of doing things within the organization. When the long-term impact of the change on the organization has a more positive effect than the negative impact, the organization is encouraged to participate in implementing the change.
I agree with the recommendation in the book that to ensure proper implementation of change within the organization to improve performance; it requires training of both frontline employees as well as the other general employees so that everybody within the organization understand the need for change and the arising issues are addressed at the beginning hence allowing the organization to adapt to the changes in the external business operation positively. The best way of coordinating the implementation of change and minimizing the resistance to change from the employees within the organization is good to use a bottom-up approach. The approach will help the management get the trust of other employees as their views are considered. They will feel to be part of the change, hence solving the problem of resistance to change that is mainly faced by team leaders responsible for the implementation of change.
In conclusion, the book provides valuable information about the change process within the organization and how the difference needs to be implemented to enable the organization to increase its working efficiencies. When all the precautions have been put in place, there is indeed no need of monitoring the change and noting its impact on the performance of the organization so that corrective actions can be put in place to ensure that the change is managed in a way that gives the organization a competitive advantage. Michael had a great supply of cheese, but he did not relax and start enjoying the success of the businesses; in fact, he went further and explored to understand what was going around in the way of detecting any changes in the working environment that might affect the operation of the organization. Sometimes organizations fear implementing new changes because they lack the required skills to implement the recent changes. As a result, it may be costly to the business organization because it will have two options of either training the existing employees to gain the required knowledge and skills or hiring new employees with the necessary skills and expertise, and the two options are costly.
The company of Nathan is being forced to close stores because of failure to manage change. The statement by Nathan in the book is true because when the management of the business organization does not predict changes in an external business environment, it ends up being affected negatively, resulting in the business's closure. Therefore, those in business need to keep on scanning the environmental change to predict change, monitor the change, accept change and implement. The external environment keeps changing, and without proper evaluation and scanning of the external business environment, it is hard for the business to remain competitive. That's why it is hard for the business organization working in isolation from the external business environment to compete with those interacting with the external environment and implementing change.
I agree with the book on the point that the business needs to be operated as a system because the business always has constant interactions with the suppliers, customers and the surrounding community, which require the business to have good monitoring and interactions with these other actors and ensure that the changing preferences of the customers, suppliers and the community is noted and effected through upgrading the system and delivery services to meet the taste and preferences of the customers.
In conclusion, the book provides useful information that provides the solution to most organizations facing the challenge of adapting to change in the business environment. By discussing the negative impact of resisting change provide useful information that can be used by change agents within the organization to convince those resisting change so that they can see the importance of that change both to the organization and to the employees because when the company ignore changes and it collapses both the owner and the employees will lose.
