Recovery time objective

Recovery time objective is the maximum specified amount of time that can be prohibited before the general business processes are restored to normal after a disaster. It is essential since it assists in avoiding unacceptable consequences associated with the disruption of business continuity. According to TechTarget's work by Margaret(2011), the recovery time objective is the maximum time that can be tolerated for the network system to be down after a disaster occurs. RTO determines the extent to which disruptions can interrupt normal operations and the amount of revenue resulting from a disaster in each time frame. Evaluating the costly downtime of several applications operating in the company depends on the short and long-term factors (Kwon, 2018).

Techopedia refers to RTO to be the maximum amount of time that can be allowed between the resumption of normal operations and the occurrence of the disaster and service levels. However, it does not exactly fix the recovery from disaster by the specific set date, but it helps to anticipate the longest possible required before recovery to normal operations resume. RTO is determined during the organization impact analysis exercise when figuring out business continuity plans. The recovery time objective is similar and goes hand in hand with the recovery point objective, defined as the amount of data with the potential of getting lost within a measured time.

The third site visited was duva.com from Google. It was an excellent medium between the two sites. The site emphasized both the RPO and the RTO but was not in-depth compared to the previous site.

Used backup and recovery procedures

Sending by mail, the first step in the method was saving the lab assessment worksheet file in the local computer. It was followed by opening an email account by using the preferred browser on the computer. After email opening, a new email is composed and attached to the file; the email is then sent to the preferred secure email (Wong, 2020).

Saving to the cloud; the document from the lab is saved first to the local computer. An email is opened by use of the preferred browser on the computer. The user should then click on the Google app icon and then navigate to drive. The file is uploaded on the new drive page. On the new pop-up window, the file is then located and uploaded to Google drive.

Recovery procedures

One should first check the email used to send the file after it gets lost. The lab report document can be recovered from the google drive email account. The user should go to the email account and login using the preferred browser. to open the drive page window, the user should click the google icon on the windows. The file should then be selected and downloaded to the computer and then saved to the preferred location.

Personal procedures using RTO

The process involved in returning operations to normality and recovering all the data lost comprises of back up worksheets files that secure locations. The file can also be recovered from an alternative source and thus resuming operations within the shortest time possible.

Backup testing and procedure for recovery strategies

It is possible to execute an execution of whether the file is safe or not safe. The best strategy is switching operations to an alternative site that can assist in opening a backup source. (Akulavenkatavara, 2016).

Approaches to reducing RTO

1. Continuous writing and maintenance of available detailed recovery process

2. Documenting the recovery procedure for future reference

3. Training the employees on the approach they can utilize in responding to crucial situations that can help lower the RTO.
