Proposed EBP Idea - Rationale

 Why should we introduce the use of bedside nurse change of shift report

instead of traditional nurse report at nurses station?

 Studies have shown that the use of bedside nurse report is beneficial to the nurse and the patients (White-Trevino, 2018)

 The Joint Commission recommends that patients be actively involved in their care, and that a constant handoff communication process be in place during nursing shift changes (Scheidenhelm, 2017)

 Medicare reimbursement is linked to national patient satisfaction scores such as HCAHPS (Faloon, 2018)

 Studies have proved that the use of bedside nurse report have increased patient satisfaction scores on National surveys (Skaggs, 2018; Zion & Smith, 2017)

Summary of Critical Appraisal Process

Part 3 journal article resources we shared in Module 4.
