Healthcare Description

The organization is an HMO type, meaning it’s a Health Maintenance Organization. Like many other government hospital, the organization is more ready to change compared to private hospitals.

Being a Health Maintenance type of Organization (HMO), the facility limits its coverage to doctors and facilities to its network. The hospital expects participants to choose pick a primary care physician that would orchestrate care. Also being an HMO healthcare facility, the hospital provides health insurance coverage for either a monthly or an annual fee. Unlike private healthcare organizations that are slow to change, this healthcare facility which is government owned, is more ready to change.

Current Problem Facing the Healthcare Organization

Like any other healthcare organization, the facility equally faces some problems. One of the major challenges being faced involves limited or inadequate access to technology. The other problem surrounds knowledge of technology employed by the facility.

For years, the healthcare organization has been struggle to implement technology within the facility while still maintaining an efficient operation. Despite this efforts however, some of its workers are suffering. Some healthcare professionals working at the facility feel like they have insufficient access to technology. There are also instances where some healthcare professions have inadequate knowledge on the technology being implemented at by the organization.

Evidence-based idea

Today, evidence based practice (EBP) in nursing is considered as one major principle in healthcare. One proposal for an evidence based practice involves control of infection at the healthcare facility.

EBP can be said to be a practice of medicine, that is based on solid research and that also adheres strictly to standards for safety and high quality, while at the same time focusing on the needs of a patient. The last think a patient would want is getting a hospital acquired infection(Melnyk, 2018). In that regard, infection control is the proposed evidence based idea. Health practitioners can help prevent illness before they actually happen by sticking to evidence based infection control polices.

Plan for knowledge transfer

From a process perspective, knowledge management is primarily concerned with creation, dissemination as well as the utilization of knowledge within the healthcare organization. On that, note it is important to have a well-structured process that would successfully manage knowledge.

To serve as input to the knowledge management process, knowledge has to be created and be solicited from sources(Fineout-Overholt, Melnyk, Stillwell, & Williamson, 2010). There is need to gather relevant data from difference sources like transaction, collection, sales, and billing systems. Once knowledge is gathered, it should be codified in a format that is machine readable. Knowledge that is codified calls for transfer of explicit information in the paper repots into electronic documents. A blocked channel between knowledge seeker and provider happens to be one of the biggest barriers in many healthcare organizations.

Measurable Outcomes

In a healthcare environment, evidence based changes are helpful as they help achieve health care and cost. One of the measurable output hoped to be achieved, is to help clinicians stay current on evidence based protocols that are standardized.

With explosion of scientific knowledge in recent past, it is becoming difficult for a clinician to stay current on the best medical practices. For a healthcare practitioner to stay up to date, he/she would have to read quite a number of medical articles(Williamson, 2009). To some, this becomes a difficult task. However, through the implementation of this evidence based changes, clinicians would have a way to stay current with some of the best practices while they use standardized protocols.

Lesson learned from completing the evaluation table

An evaluation table helps store results of an expression evaluation. Having an evaluation table enables one to easy examine a program critically. One lesson one can learn by completing an evaluation table is that it helps improve both program implementation and design.

While conducting an evaluation it is crucial for one to assess and adopt his/her activities to make sure that they are very effective. By completing an evaluation table, one is able to easy identify the specific areas of improvement and hence helps one realize his/her goals more efficiently. In addition to that, completing and evaluation table enables one to demonstrate his/her program’s progress or success.

Lesson learned from completing the levels of evidence table

Evidence based practice basically involves finding evidence and then using that evidence to come up with clinical decision. The hierarchical system of classifying evidence is a cornerstone of evidence based practice. This hierarchy systems are the levels of evidence.

Completing the level of evidence table enables one to determine the particular evidence that are more important that the rest. In addition to that, the levels of evidence table also enables one to determine the most authoritative evidence. Therefore, levels of evidence table, can be used to specify a hierarchical order for different research designs which are based on their internal validity.

Lesson learned from completing the outcomes synthesis table

Outcome synthesis includes combination of results or ideas from various sources into a more meaningful manner. In evidence based practice, this synthesis is mostly focused on clinical questions.

While completing the outcomes synthesis table, it is important to ensure that the writing remains accurate and objective. The strength of evidence is primarily based on consistency, quantity, and quality of a body of literature.
