GUIDELINES TO READ AND WRITE THE RESPONSE PAPER

* Don’t write a report, * Don’t judge, argue or critique.

For this assignment choose a partner with whom you can discuss your ideas

(through e-mail, chat and discussion forum).

Read the articles yourself first and discuss with your partner after that.

You will write your response individually.

(Partners will support you in the process of brainstorming, critical thinking and reflection.)

 Note down ideas that relate to your personal experiences and explain how those relate in your written response.

 Keep a record of ideas, information and thoughts that seem compelling, interesting and novel to you. Narrate those ideas in your response.

 Make a note of questions/doubts that arise in your mind when you read the articles. Choose a few relevant questions that particularly address issues of early childhood

education, and discuss with your partners and narrate /explain in your response.

 While reading the articles, if you encounter confusion, controversy and doubt bring that to the discussion with your partner. Write about the conclusion/s you arrived through

your discussion/s.

 If the articles give you certain conclusions, inferences/suggestions, do those make any sense to you and explain how and why.

 As a whole, explain if the ideas in the articles relate to your personal experiences in educating young children.

MOST IMPORTANTLY:

• Personally engage yourself with the ideas presented in the articles carefully.

Good: 8

Includes some components given in the guideline, main purpose of the articles, provides some

information on the key/ hidden features of the text.

Demonstrates thinking but not clear critical thinking. Somewhat clear expression.

Fair: 6

Covers a few aspects given in the guideline, does not cover main purpose of the articles, does not

provide any information on the key/ hidden features of the text.

Does not demonstrate critical thinking. Sometimes difficult to understand.

Poor: Below 6
