LA Structure

According to Rosten Woo in “ La Titudes," refers to naming structure in Los Angeles. Immigrants from same nationality would want to rename a neighborhood that they live in, so they can be recognized by the people around that neighborhood. the process of rename a place and how communities function is very interesting. A lot of cultures want to represent themselves and be more recognize by sticking together. However, I think that these cultures are erasing the history of the place and the place would be more excluded because many people like diversity especially if they are immigrants so they do not feel different. Also, Cities are affected by their reputation like South Central. You live in the nicest and safest part of South Central, but people would still think you live around gangs and a place full of African American, even if it’s very diverse place. According to Woo, the Local paper would refers to any activity black community does would consider it as South Central even if it was blocks out of South Central area.

In “LA TITUDES,” Wendy Glimartin criticized buildings structure and the impact of poor structures. According to Glimartin “Their Glassy, Steely architecture symbolizes financial stability, capitalism, investment, permanence,” which shows the importance of building structure. In addition, Buildings represent the people who live their and their culture. Ugly buildings can push away investors. The author mentions the people of Los Angeles would build fast so they can flip it then rebuild it, so they can get profit of it which would hurt the economy. I think that the way cities structure is very important because it will be very appealing for tourists and consumers which will help the growth of the city to increase. However, I disagree with the author about old building should be replaced. I think that old buildings give tourists a great vision of California’s history. Also, many people like these old building because of the great memories. I think the city can grow with their old unique buildings. In my opinion, modern buildings should be placed in new areas rather than rebuild the cities because I think every city, or country has to have places that shows heritage and the history of those places
