Reading Activity Detailed Instructions
You have 3 CHOICES for the reading activity assignments.
1. Write 10 sentences in a journal entry. Summarize what you read AND answer the reading activity question. See below for example of a journal and for instructions. OR 2. Write an outline of the whole reading. At the bottom of the summary outline, please answer the reading activity question. See below for example of an outline and see textbook pages 132-133, 133 for an examples of an appropriate outline. OR 3. Create a mind map of the reading. At the bottom of the summary outline, please answer the reading activity question. See below for two examples of a mind map and/or textbook pages 161-162 for an example of an appropriate mind map.
How is this graded? Each reading activity assignment is worth 5 points, based upon one of the following:
· Journal: Fully reflecting upon the journal questions and including at least one parenthetical citation and the work cited page as shown in the attachment.
· OR outline: Fully outline the reading material as example shows in attachment and answer the questions.
· OR mind map: Create a full mind map with details and answer the questions as the example shows in the attachment.
Choice #1: Journal Reflection Requirements and Example
Please answer each set of questions according to what you read in the assigned pages or chapters.
· Minimum of 10 complete, thorough, grammatically correct sentences
· Answer the question(s) listed in the CLASS assignment (not questions in the textbook).
· Refer to the information in the textbook to prove that you have read the book.
· Include a quote or two with internal parenthetical citations.
· Work cited page
· MLA style (4-line heading, 12-point font, Times New Roman, double spaced with no extra spaces between paragraphs)
· No text language or incomplete sentences
· Use Word (NOT Google docs).
· Use a spell check and grammar check BEFORE turning in.

Choice #2: Outline Requirements and Example
Fully outline the reading material as shown in the attachment titled “Outline Example.”
· Summarize the reading via an outline.
· Include details.
· Do not copy word for word from the textbook.
· Use your own words.
· Outline must also address the question(s) noted in the reading activity directions for each assignment not questions in the textbook. Add the answer at the bottom of the outline.
· See pages 132-133 for outline example.
