Write an essay that puts Douglass’s Narrative in conversation with the lecture material on slavery you have viewed so far in class. Address images used in the lectures that have relevant connections to Douglass’s story or that amplify it as well as points made by Douglass that the images convey—or fail to convey. Cite specific passages from Douglass as well as images from the lectures.

2. Oppression and Resistance in Douglass's Narrative

Slavery was predicated on a system of oppression and resistance. In your paper, explain the specific tactics slave-holders used to oppress slaves and the various ways in which slaves resisted. Think carefully about the various forms resistance and oppression take in Douglass's Narrative and use specific examples from the text.
