1. Time: try to use about 2 hours with observations and the other hour credited for talking to your mentor.
2. Observations:
· Videos are in lieu of Observations
· Observe videos of an experienced teacher (must be from the approved list )
· Make note of any differentiation, scaffolding, digital literacy activities and tools
3. Interview your mentor teacher regarding
· IF you do not have a mentor teacher , than watch at least one of the videos under “teacher interviews)
· His or her use of digital literacy activities and tools in the classroom.
· If the mentor teacher does not use digital literacy activities and tools, discuss how he or she could incorporate them into the classroom.
· Discuss the following with your mentor teacher:
· Digital literacy activities and tools and the rationale for their use.
· Designing lesson plans that are rigorous using various digital literacies that motivate all students in reading and writing.
· Scaffolding instruction and differentiating activities with digital literacy.
· Adjusting curriculum to encourage self-direction.
4. Turn in: (summaries and reflection)
· Video summaries that equal approximately 2 hours together. Use the template below for each video summary.
· Write a 250-500 word reflection of your video observations (and the interview with your mentor teacher). Discuss what you learned regarding implementing a variety of digital literacy materials to engage and motivate all students. Explain how this collaboration with your mentor teacher will be applied to your future professional practice as a reading/literacy specialist.
