Research Design Proposal
Case
InMotion InMotion is a Canada’s activewear label for women. From its humble beginning more than 40 years ago to a global firm today, the firm’s core identity remains the same. Their aim is to inspire women globally to live their best life through active living. Patricia Harrison, the owner, opened her first shop in Toronto in 1989. At that time, she was engaged in only domestic marketing. The first transaction involved in international marketing occurred 1n 1990. Planning to onsell InMotion’s products, a Hong Kong woman came into her store and bought all the stock with a $25,000 cash cheque. Years later, InMotion shops are in four continents - Africa, the Americas, Asia, and Europe. In addition to selling their products in their own retail shops, they also work with about 40 international stores and retailers that stock their products. Moreover, the firm has a strong online presence through websites such as Stylerunner and their own. When entering the U.S. market, the firm opened their own shops and had a full-scaled digital and social media marketing campaign. Their products have to be changed to suit the U.S. market. For example, singlet tops are called tanks and short tights are called crops in the U.S. They have to take into consideration of these differences in their marketing communication strategy. While the firm tries to change their products as little as possible in order to ensure their global image, they are prepared to adapt whenever and whatever necessary to suit the overseas markets. InMotion is eager to explore business opportunities and markets overseas. The company is considering to market their activewear label for women in Australia. The company believes that the consumer market for women’s activewears in Australia is growing. However, it is unsure how to market its products in this unfamiliar market and would like to conduct a research to understand more about it. Consequently, it decides to solicit research proposals from marketing research companies to help solve its problem
. Question: Assume the role of a business development manager of a research company named “Prosper” and develop a research proposal with an aim to solving the problem for InMotion.
