Identify and briefly describe
your personal conflict- management style.
• Collab oration
•
• The best long-term results is collaboration however, it is the most time-consuming and difficult because everyone wants their ideas considered and leave satisfied so everyone involved must work together talking about the conflict and finding a solution to the problem.
• Pros: The entire team leaves the meeting happy because the solution to the conflict is resolved and the team who negotiated the conflict was skilled, {Harvard Business Review, 2022}.
Working As
A Team
Describe your example regarding the exercise of the style you selected. Unfortunately my audio is not working therefore I will have to write what I was going to say within this slide.
• Example:
• I and my friend own a restaurant and my friend Tom manages the restaurant. My friend and I usually agree on what is best for the restaurant however, I disagree with Tom about which job applicant would be best to fill the position of Head Cook and being that I am the owner I can make the decision without Tom being involved but being that we are a team I want to sit down with Tom and discuss who and why does he think applicant two {Jerry} would fit the job description.
• After a couple of weeks of negotiation and open communication we decided to hire both applicants on a trial basis. This way we will see who is best suited to fill the position and we both will be pleased with the results. This is a form a team work within an organization with both parties are happy with the results, {Positive Psychology}.

My Conflict Management Style Could Be Described As Collaborative.
Usually I look at both sides I am discussing with someone and try to find a way to agree on the issue where both of us are satisfied with the solution. Within my life I have to compromise with family members and friends on different issues pertaining to our home and my social life.
For example, when my brother and I decided to find a two bedroom apartment we had to decide on the type of furniture we wanted and how much money we will spend for the furniture and we decided on a certain amount and we made a decision to keep some old furniture with the new furniture and even though it wasn't my first choice it was a solution that we both agreed upon and we were satisfied with our decision.
In my work life conflict management has helped me find a solution when I and my co-workers were in disagreement. We wanted to add another dining room and we were in total disagreement on how to proceed so I said we all should put our ideas on paper and everyone will review what the other team member wrote on how to proceed and this way everyone was involved in the final decision which the team was happy with the results.
Collaborative conflict management is good to find a solution to a problem leaving everyone satisfied with the results because it involves all the team members as to the final decision on any given project but let us be clear that this doesn't work all the time because some members will want their ideas to move forward regardless to what the other team members decide so it will be very hard to find a solution that is acceptable to them and the team.
AVOIDING CONFLICT BECAUSE IT CAUSES PROBLEMS FOR W=EVERYONE INVOLVED AND DISAGREEMENTS WILL CAUSE PEOPLE TO ACT VERY DIFFERENT
TOWARDS YOU AND DRAMA IS SOMETHING I TRY TO AVOID.
