RAP #5: Relational Communication Conceptual Reflection

This reflection paper allows you to tailor your work to your unique, emergent interests and needs. It should offer a rich analysis of your relational communication (with solid, concrete examples).

For this reflection assignment, you will need to identify a relational communication theory, concept, issue, or skill that you would like to explore in greater depth as part of your ongoing portfolio analysis. For instance, you may wish to:

· Explore a concept or theory that was covered in the readings and/or discussed in class, such as exploring how attachment styles affect relational communication or how you and your relational partner (could better) negotaite dialectical tensions,

· Investigate an emergent interest or issue that has arrisen during your analyses, such as improving how you and your relational partner communicate and negotiate interpersonal needs or how do others manage their identities in relationships online or offline, or

· Study a concept or skill not covered in the class (or not covered yet) but has relevance to relational communication, including strategies to better understand and communication emotions in your relationship or what role playfulness and humor serves in maintaining intimacy.

The world is your oyster, but if you need assistance brainstorming a topic or wish to run ideas by me, please feel free. Ultimately, the purpose of this assignment is for you to push beyond our current course coverage in order to enrich your understanding and ongoing analysis of your relational communication.

Given its focus on expanding and extending your learning, you will need to identify and incorporate 2-3 academic sources for your reflection. If you need assistance with identifing sources, I am happy to help.

2) An analysis that integrates your 2-3 academic sources with solid, concrete examples of your relational communication,

3) A conclusion that revists your thesis and reviews your analysis, and

4) A reference page.
