Literature Review/Hypothesis/Introduction Section - Research Paper

Directions: Submit the Introduction to your proposal including the literature review and hypotheses.  Be sure to include the required number of sources (8-10) and that each has been used correctly and cited within the text.  Make sure your paper conforms to APA style.

Your submission should also include the cover page and reference page.

Exceptional corresponds to an A- to A (90-100). Performance is outstanding; significantly above the usual expectations.  

Proficient corresponds to a grade of B- to B+ (80-89%). Skills and standards are at the level of  

expectations. 

Basic corresponds to a C to C+ (70-79%). Skills and standards are acceptable, but improvements are needed to meet expectations well.

Novice corresponds to a D to C- (50-69%). Performance is weak; the skills or standards are not sufficiently demonstrated at this time.

Literature Review includes the problem that is being investigated. Provides a critical review of the research in the field of study and is able to identify methodological problems and/or demonstrates gaps in the research. In addition, research is presented in a coherent manner.					20
Organization: Grammar, spelling, and syntax are appropriate to the college level. Typed in a double-spaced APA format with citations and 8-10 peer-reviewed references.					19

Excellent paper and well-written. You included all of the necessary elements of this section in a logical progression. The topic is relevant to cognitive psychology (problem-solving) and child development (parenting styles)

Abstract: Prior to the abstract, your title summarizes the main idea of your paper and it is properly formatted. The abstract is written in a structured format that is acceptable where indentions are not used. However, you did not include Keywords on the last line to be indented. Please do so before submitting your final paper good job discussing the importance of your study to the field of psychology. In an actual abstract, it would include Method, Results, and Conclusions. In other words, it provides a comprehensive summary of the contents of the proposal. In fact, some individuals often revise or write their abstract upon completion of their study. For now, you are fine, just include the keywords. Well-Done!

Introduction: The introduction provides aa good background to why your study is important and the relevancy of your topic. In other words, your introduction allows the reader a glimpse into why you are studying this topic to include its relevancy in psychology. Just include a couple of studies to support what you are discussing.

Hypothesis: Excellent hypotheses where you indicated a specific outcome in your study regarding why there are significant differences in parenting styles on cognitive abilities such as problem-solving or even decision-making skills. What is important is that you included your hypotheses at the end of your literature review as a transition into your actual study.

Literature Review: Excellent explanation of the major concepts in your study followed by relevant research in the field that supports and/or relates to your hypotheses. You demonstrated a good logical progression of ideas. In reading some of your studies, you included a good basis and/or support for your hypothesis. Make sure that you include studies that demonstrate the influence of parenting styles on problem-solving skills. I believe that you touched on this. I look forward to reading your next section where you will assign participants to groups and include measures to evaluate your study/hypothesis.

Organization: Excellent grammar and syntax. Your paper is written in accordance with APA format to include excellent peer-reviewed references. Just make sure that you double-space throughout your entire paper and include Keywords in your paper. In addition, 17% originality match in Turnitin is very good.
