Analyzing the different Healthcare systems around the world has led me to believe that Japan has the most efficient, beneficial system for all its citizens. Its hybrid system of private insurances and doctors with strict government oversight has several advantages. More importantly, citizens who cannot afford healthcare premiums due to income are provided healthcare by government funded community healthcare insureses. This guarantees that the maximum number of people have access to healthcare.
First, keeping the doctors and insurances private is key to minimizing long wait times and hampering doctors ability to see patients. For profit health care centers will be driven by profit and competition to provide speedy, excellent care to stay in business.
Unlike the US system that seems geared to the benefit of doctors and hospitals, it is a system that is geared towards the patients. I say this because the percentage of people going bankrupt due to medical bills is much higher than the percentage of doctors and hospitals going bankrupt due to low wages and unsustainable profit margins.
In the documentary, the japanese government sets strict guidelines every year on pricing for the most common procedures on what a doctor can charge. This transparency keeps heath care cost extremely low and gives the system a high level of flexibility since prices are negotiated every year.
In conclusion, I think the Japanese health care system is the most effective, advantageous system for its citizens. It has the benefits of a free market driven system (no wait times, highly competitive care) plus enough government oversight to keep the healthcare cost exceedingly
low.

This video was definitely eye opening to say the least! Being military my whole life and now retired, I have never really had to worry or look into healthcare! I do know that the US is definitely OVER inflated with their medical prices and healthcare insurance too. However, after watching this video, I understand a lot more.
The one I think that makes the most since is Japan. They seem to have it figured out and not have the government holding the cards. They do not pay high taxes in order to get good care. They also do not have long waits like the other countries that have the government involved either. Their down fall was that a lot of the hospitals that as private are in financial troubles. Since their services are price regulated, the health care system and doctors are not sitting back getting rich while people cannot afford to get treated. Now, the adjustment that it seems they need is to really look deeper at their set price book. Since our nation is rapidly growing and so is the technology around us, they should adjust those prices a little so that the hospitals are not so strained. Thank I think it would be a perfect system to implement in other countries!
