Choose two contrasting artists from the readings and lectures for this unit and discuss two ways in which each renewed previous styles within their music and performance style. Compare and contrast their personalities and strategies. You can choose any combination of urban folk or British invasion groups to come up with your two artists. Use specific examples from their songs, their self-presentation, how they interacted with audiences or politics, and other musical or extra-musical characteristics to make your comparisons.
