Question three

The cold war is referred to the period of tension between the Soviet Union and its states and the western union block. During the cold war, there was no fighting directly, but the two countries supported regional wars. The war was against Nazi Germany and the USSR. The cold war was based upon economic, political and propaganda from other nations. The nations had limited weapons hence would not participate in war but support the countries that were fighting during that time. The cold war came with some challenges[footnoteRef:1]. The most affected people were women. They had no freedom to do anything. They were like slaves. [1: Nedoma, Jeannette. The Role of Women. Munich: GRIN Verlag, 2009. ]

The women during the col; war were expected to remain at home and take care of the children. They were not allowed to go and mingle with their friends. The ladies were married once they turned 20 and were required to have children and spend their lives taking care of their husbands and feeding the babies. The women were also required to prepare the houses were the nuclear attacks were stored. They were also required to educate their families on what to do in case an emergency broke out. The women were also required to raise their families and take care of the homes[footnoteRef:2]. They were supposed to enjoy doing this, but most of them were depressed and never enjoyed it at all. Generally, women were supposed to stay at home and never go out. The husbands were supposed to provide for their families. [2: Scotland, Equal O. Gender equality duty: code of practice, Scotland.
