Around every month a birth-sex female, will shed the uterine lining when implantation does not occur. This is called menstruation. Initially, the egg is released from the ovary with the intention of being fertilized by a sperm (menstrual cycle, 2018). If this does not occur, the lining of the uterus breaks down and sheds to allow the uterus to become healthy again to carry another potentially fertilized egg to the uterus around a month later. This process occurs from the time puberty begins until menopause ends. Different hormones are released acknowledging the presentation of a fertilized egg or the need to shed the lining of the uterus. The process of ovulation is where the healthy egg is fertilized and travels to the uterine wall (Harmon, 2017). After the egg travels to through the fallopian tubes, it then implants in the uterine lining. Initially a woman has around 300,000 eggs, but only releases around 500 eggs throughout her lifetime. At times the lining of the uterine wall is not properly disposed of. This condition is known as endometriosis. When a woman is diagnosed with endometriosis, her uterine lining travels to other areas of the body and is not shed properly (Endometriosis, 2004). Endometriosis has been known to cause infertility issues in women due to this tissue potentially forming cysts and the unhealthy tissue traveling to the fallopian tubes. At times, endometriosis causes the uterine tissue to travel and attach to the fallopian tubes making it difficult for the fallopian tubes to help a fertilized and healthy egg travel to the uterine wall for implantation.

What are some of the potential treatments for endometriosis and can these treatments possibly make conception easier?

The reproductive system is the tissues, glands, and organs involved in producing children. The major function of the reproductive system is to ensure the survival of the human species by reproducing offspring. In women, the reproductive system includes the ovaries, the fallopian tubes, the uterus, the cervix, and the vagina. The Uterus has a muscular outer layer called the myometrium and an inner lining called the endometrium. Its functions include producing egg and sperm cells, transporting and sustaining these cells, and producing hormones, these hormones function in the maturation of the reproductive system, development of sexual characteristics, and the regulation of its system. These structures transport and sustain the gametes and nurture the developing offspring. The male reproductive organs are internal and external, including the prostate, the testes, and the penis. The male reproductive system is responsible for sexual function, as well as for urination and to make children. The system is dependent on hormones that stimulate and regulate the activity of your cells or organs, hormones such as follicle-stimulating hormones which are necessary for sperm production. Luteinizing hormone stimulates the production of testosterone, which is necessary to continue the process of spermatogenesis. This is the process of sperm cell development where the immature sperm cells divide and change into spermatozoa and mature into sperm cells to fertilize with an egg.
