Imagine you are conducting a literature review in preparation for a study of expectations regarding the sharing of financial and practical responsibilities among married and cohabiting couples in which both partners are between the ages of 20 and 29. Conducting a keyword search on "couples" and "responsibility," you generate a lengthy list of research articles. You decide to shorten the list by eliminating all articles that were not published in prestigious research journals and to only include the remaining articles in your literature review. What is gained and lost by using that approach. Is it an appropriate one for a scholarly literature review? 2. While reading a literature review written by a novice researcher in your field, you notice that the researcher seems to have relied heavily on the Internet in preparing the review. Your hunch is supported when you glance at the reference page and find a long list of web addresses. What goes through your mind regarding the quality and adequacy of the literature review in this situation? 3. Describe two different problems related to research design that are commonly encountered when doing research and for each explain how a complete and detailed research proposal would help the researcher avoid the problem.

A conclusion summarizes the most important points of the essay. Conclusions are also the last opportunity for writers to make their points to their readers. They are, therefore, an essential component of the essay. Too often, inexperienced writers write weak conclusions which weakens their essay. Spend some time crafting a strong conclusion.

· Add 2-3 sentences of the best, most interesting highlights. A good strategy is to choose one piece of evidence from each of the body paragraphs. Rewrite the evidence in new ways so the reader does not recognize them from the body of the essay.

· Add a concluding sentence that restates your thesis statement. Remember the reader should not recognize it as your thesis statement. Make significant changes to the words and word order of the original thesis statement.

· Post your conclusion to this discussion.

· Critique the introductions of your peers.

Although jails and prisons are very similar, there are distinct differences regarding their structure, mission, and purpose.

 

In your initial response, compare and contrast jails vs. prisons. As part of your response, develop a persuasive argument describing why jails can be prone to more acts of violence in comparison to prisons.

Currently the Legislative branch is trying to expand the Supreme Court by adding 4 new seats to the Court to make 13 justices instead of 9 justices. The Constitution does not outline specifically how many justices must be appointed. Some argue this is going to "pack the court" with liberal justices. Others argue is it going to create a balance from the current conservative tipped bench presently in place. 

Consider the following questions. If your last name starts with A-M, you will argue IN FAVOR of expanding the Supreme Court. If your last name starts with N-Z, you will argue AGAINST expanding the Supreme Court.

1) What are the pros and cons to expanding the Supreme Court?

2) Do you think this is merely a political move or a necessary move?

3) What are your thoughts on this issue?

4) Do you think the framers intended the Supreme Court to be expanded and or packed on one side or the other?
