II.  APA WRITING STYLE CITATIONS AND REFERENCES: NEVER quote anything directly from your textbook or any other source; instead, always take the information, put it into YOUR OWN WORDS, and then identify the source by using a citation.  For Topic 1, your Assignment and Response Posts will need to include APA Style citations in your paragraphs.  You may also use outside sources (with citations) in your Assignment and Response Posts, but also be sure to include information that you learned from your textbook.

Throughout the semester, you will rely on this website to correctly use and format citations in your paragraphs, and using APA Writing Style (American Psychological Association Writing Style).

· The following is an example of an APA Style citation:

Whether an individual fully assimilates into American society may depend on whether or not the individual voluntarily immigrates to the U.S., or whether the individual is a  member of a group who were brought  involuntarily to the United States (Gollnick & Chinn, 2013). Notice that the citation is placed BEFORE the endmark (period) of the sentence.

III.  ASSIGNMENT POST You are to write a one paragraph essay.  Include in your paragraph at least one APA citation for your textbook, i.e. (Gollnick & Chinn, 2017), since you will be including information that you learned from Chapter 1 of your textbook in each of this paragraph.  You are ALWAYS encouraged to use additional outside sources, in addition to your textbook, and when you do so, you will need to provide APA Style citations for those sources as well.   

Write one essay in a paragraph, using sources to support what you write:

1)  What practices in schools or other environments could support and promote multiculturalism?  Be specific here, providing some actual research-based ideas (strategies that research supports as being effective) for promoting multiculturalism, cultural awareness, and respect of diversity.  Be sure that you support what you write with information that you have learned from your textbook and, if you would also like to use them, additional outside sources.  Include at least one APA citation in your paragraph.
