Respond 2
Question 1
You have just conducted an interview with your new client, Smith Manufacturing, Inc. In your interview, you have discovered that a good friend of yours is the Director of Marketing. Does this create a conflict of interest in your professional relationship with Smith Manufacturing, Inc.? Explain. How will you proceed?
Respond to this… This situation does create a conflict of interest, due to my position and the fact that the Director of Marketing is a friend of mine. The reason being is that since the friend is in a high position, there is the possibility that he would try to make me do unethical things with the accounting information, such as inflate his sales in order to make it look like he is selling more products than what is really being sold. I would report the situation to my superior in order to avoid a bad situation.
Question 2
Since you have been looking at how technology and social roles are connected in this week's discussion you will take on the role of a debater on the side of how technology has enhanced the social roles of the female population.
For your discussion:
· State your side of the debate
· Develop a solid stand on the issue
· Include examples
· Include some solid references
· When providing feedback to other student's posts validate how their information helps the issue.
Respond to this… I think technology has really enhanced to female's role in the workplace. The number of women in the workplace has increased by 14% from 40% to 54% in 2017. We have 26 women who hold CEO positions for very prominent companies such as Lockheed Martin, General Motors, Nasdaq, Hershey's, Duke Energy and Staples to name a few. The Workplace Gender Equality Act of 2012 has really helped encourage women to strive for upper-level management positions so that if they chose to, they can get an education, work hard in the place of work and not be fearful of not being able to move up the corporate ladder based solely on their gender.
I feel technology has given an equal opportunity for any race, gender or age to move up to the social ladder and become whatever they strive to be. Marilyn Hewson began her career with Lockheed Martin over 30 years ago as an Industrial Engineer. At the time, become a CEO of one of the most prominent Aerospace and Defense contractors not only in the United States, but in the world was something that was not on her mind at the time, but she worked hard and became part of their executive board in 1993 and worked her way up the corporate ladder and was named CEO of Lockheed Martin in 2013. In 2015, she was named the 20th most powerful women in the world.
The use of technology such as using social media and online education has increased the female populous to becoming more prominent in gaining much higher level positions in the workplace then it ever has in our history. We have technology at our fingertips and it becomes just a matter of how we use that technology to grow as a society and culture.
