Question 1

In a quasi-experimental research, experiments are usually subject to concerns about validity internally since control groups and treatment are not comparable at baseline. The study regarding autism is experimental (Walters, et.al, 2017). This is because from the case study, we see that the researcher manipulates the level of diverse independent variables and later measures the consequences. From the report, we have seen powerful techniques for the assessment of cause and effect relationships.

Question 2

Dependent variables are those variables in which a researcher gets interested in. An independent variable on the other hand is one which is believed to impact dependent variables.

From the case study, some of the examples of independent variables used are time and age. Dependent variables on the other hand, is one which gets measured in an experiment. For instance, we learn from the case study that in case a researcher looks at how studies facilitates test scores, these scores are dependent variables and the studying amount is independent variable.

Question 3

In a design that is experimental, subjects get assigned randomly to diverse groups for dissimilar levels of treatment, or in other times, no treatment. That is, the control group. In a design that is quasi-experimental, on the other hand, subjects get assigned randomly to treatment. It thus means that there is no any randomization.

Question 4

Quasi-experiment was used. It is because we read that the study is an empirical study involving intervention that estimates the casual effects of different interventions on target population with no any random assignment.

Question 5

Scientific merit will help us evaluate and assess the case study. As mentioned earlier, the scientific merit is an essential constituent of the evaluation of the Institutional Review Board. The article adds more knowledge to us in that there is the lack of empathy by humans that affects people who are living with Autism.
