quality control and management of Amazon
Quality of Amazon
Jeff Bezos, who founded Amazon, created an amazing empire in the United States right out of his garage. He first started selling books, which led to many ideal business decisions in his life. From using up all his saving to keep his business growing, he more decided on how many books he could sell and didn’t care too much about his profits. He wanted to out beat his competitors and he took his business to great lengths to near bankruptcy. To this date, he remains to be the number one bookseller in the United States with the greatest e-commerce organizations in the world. With his optimism and great talent in business, he sells more products in the world and still doesn’t worry on profits, but more selling the most products online against his competitors. This is what makes Amazon one of the best “go to” online shopping markets. Low prices keep the consumers coming back and Amazon’s two day shipping program and free return policies and Amazon quality of products.
As an employee myself at Amazon, I deal with quality all the time. Quality is the number one area that is important in the Amazon industry. If the quality of a certain item is not good, it is documented and not sent to the customer unless it is stated in the description that such items quality is either new, good, fair, and so forth. If the customer wants a new item and all Amazon has to send is a used, “like new” item, Amazon’s policy is not to send that specific item, because the customer requested a new item. This means, an item that has not been open and is a first time user. The same goes with Amazon as a business in whole. Amazon was founded on satisfying the customers need 100%. The reason for this, if the customers need is not met and the customer is dissatisfied, well, we can almost say, the customer will go shop online somewhere else. Amazon’s standards are to keep the customer happy. We as employees are to focus on the customers needs from point A to point Z. Every hand that touches the item, must make sure no damage is done to the items all the way to the customers door. This means from picking the item, boxing the item, processing the item for shipment, to delivery. Sounds hard, but in reality, it is the simplest process to do. Amazon’s obsession to the customers needs is at the highest point, each and every day. The bar is set at high and if it starts to lower from its highest point, there is is problem which means corrections are needed not only in employees, but in the administration itself.
Quality at Amazon as a business couldn’t be more confusing as it is. But as Jeff Bezo states in a video, and jokingly stated, no team should be so large that it cannot be fit with just two pizzas. Having a group of 100 or 500, Amazon must hire smart people, which attracts, attains smart people with talent. There are three things that makes the quality of Amazon number one. That is listen, invent, and personalize. Listen, Amazon must listen to the customers and those who don’t, fail. Invent, Amazon must invent for the customers needs because companies who only listen to customers fail. Customers should not have to invent for themselves, this is Amazon’s responsibility. Third, personalize, take every individual customer and put them in the center of their universe. This is why Amazon is customer centric. It’s a new example of customer service. Amazon was built by innovation and pioneering work. It gets great customer experience with happy people and not miserable people who work round the clock for customer satisfaction. The quality of Amazon is a must if it plans to remain number one in the customers mind.
My supervisor, Myra Simpson said after I asked her a question about the quality of Amazon and she said, that keeping the prices lower than their competitors is a key factor. Many other people want percentage margins. Amazon thrives to maximize dollar margins which makes lower prices for customers.
