QUALITY GOAL WRITING

Kristin Clemons Rockwood Early Childhood Process Coordinator

BELLA

I

wonder….

What is a

quality

Goal???

A QUALITY Goal:

• Measurable • Attainable • Child Specific • Age Appropriate • Clearly Written

Measurable: • Criteria are not subjective

• There is an expected outcome

• There is a definitive amount of

outcome needed

• Quantitative data is possible

• Conditions are listed

You can watch me

grow and learn!

Attainable: • The student can potentially

accomplish this goal in a year.

• The student is given the support that they need to accomplish this goal

Guide me through

it and I can do it!

Child Specific: • The goal is written based

upon the student’s most recent data or evaluation results.

• The goal reflects the highest priority for that child

• The goal develops skills that are lacking/emerging in the child’s ability

My goals are all about me!!

Age Appropriate: • The goal does not surpass

that which would be considered typical development

• The goal aligns with your curriculum expectations which are based on State Standards and district Kindergarten readiness

Don’t expect me to speak

French and play classical

violin when all I want to do is

play in a tub of spaghetti

I wonder…. What are the
