PY 100: Journal Article Reaction (J.A.R.), Spring 2019, NOLAN
Overview: Find a psychology research peer-reviewed journal article from the past 15 years and summarize it. [If possible, avoid using the same article that a friend in this class found.]

· This assignment must be submitted via “turn-it-in” before class on Friday, 3-1-19.
· PAGE 1 Cover Page
· Towards the center (top to bottom) and centered left to right include the following: Your Name, Course, Section, Assignment Name, Instructor’s Name, and Date
· Add in page numbers in the upper right corner of each page.
· PAGE 2 [15 pts.] The Summary/Critique [12 pt. font, no greater than 1 inch margins, Times New Roman, double spaced, about 300 words or 1 page; do not exceed 1 page]

· Describe the goal / purpose of the study [3 pts.]
· Describe the general type of methods used (experiment, correlational study, etc.) [3 pts.] – If there is no methods section, you have the wrong kind of article
· Identify the factors (variables?) being measured or manipulated [3 pts.]
· What conclusions do the authors make? [3 pts.]
· What are the problems and limitation of this study (critique)? [3 pts.]
· FINAL PAGE [10 pts.] The Article
· At the top of a new page: Heading “References”
· Include a citation in APA style [5 pts.]
· Appropriate choice of article [5 pts.]
Finding an appropriate article:
· Go to the Library Website and click on “Online Resources”
· Scroll down and click on an appropriate database such as “PsycARTICLES (in EBSCO)”
· Use the “Advanced Search” option and limit your search to “Full Text”, “Year of Publication” (2001-2016), and Scholarly (Peer Reviewed) Journals
· Select a topic in psychology that you find interesting by entering search terms at the top
· Choose an article that you find interesting (be sure you can get a PDF of the article)
· Be sure that the article you choose is a research article (you can tell it’s a research article if it has an introduction section, methods section, results section, etc.)
Citation in APA style:
You will need authors name, publication year, title of the article, title of the journal, Volume number, page number, and page numbers. Arrange it at the top of a new page in the flowing way EXACTLY.
