1.

BEST WAY TO WRITE YOUR ESSAYS

INTRODUCE THE TOPIC AND WHAT YOU WILL BE TALKING ABOUT.

That’s it, don’t give your best evidence in the 1st paragraph. All you’re doing at the start is introducing the topic you will be writing about.

2.

2nd /3rd paragraphs

Answer the first question and make sure you answer all parts and use evidence from the film and, hopefully, the notes that you took.

Note: You are asked to talk about both SIMBA and EMMANUELLE. Their beginnings and how their characters change because of what they go through. Think about their character arc from beginning to end.

3.

4th/5th paragraphs

· You’re asked to look up the terms hero and anti-hero. Note, you are not defining the terms but telling me which category BOTH characters fall under AND providing evidence to prove each characters is either a hero or anti-hero.

· Note: You must back up your opinion with evidence from the film to show how each character is either hero or anti-hero. Don’t just use one piece of evidence, either. Be sure to provide multiple points. You cannot argue that a character is both because I am looking for comparisons.

4. 6th/7th paragraphs

Now, you will focus on the differences between each film. Think about their tone, the way they execute their revenge narratives, and how the intended audience effects the way the story and film are presented.

Then discuss whether or not each film successfully caters their revenge narratives to their audience. Who is the audience? How are the drama and action adjusted for these audiences. Do they do it successfully?

5.

Final paragraph

· Pick one film you enjoyed more and tell me why this film appealed more to you than the other, citing evidence from each film.

· Possible discussion points: what kind of genre appeals to you more? Were the characters different in the way they’re presented to the audience? Is one story more light-hearted than the other, etc.

· Note: Give me a critique for EACH film and explain why you feel that way about it.
