1. I like how you mentioned how these disorders can be contributed to being started. Many people think thy started this substance because they wanted to, but that is not true most of the time. Most of the time someone tries something because of peer pressure or they are feeling some type of way. Some people may start using a drug or substance because they are stressed, depressed or anxious. They might think using this drug can help make them feel better and once it makes them feel better once, they continue using it. Do you think teenagers become addicted to alcohol and drugs because of peer pressure more than anything else?

2. I wanted to shed more light on the last sentence of your post on how there is no specific medication that can cure this disorder because the persons mental health is what is leading the disorder. I had a family member that dealt with substance abuse for years and I couldn't understand why because I had never been addicted to anything in my life. I couldn't understand why they wouldn't just stop. I now know that there are many factors that play a part in why a person remains an addict, especially if they don't get the help that they need. I believe that there are many rehabilitation hospitals who target these disorders and there is help out there, you just have to want the help. If the family member is not mentally capable of making the decision to seek help, there should be some kind of support in place to help them get the help that is needed.

3. I agree addiction can seem so different to those who are not experiencing it. My father suffers with this and after taking an addictions course and learning the way that it effects the mind and body, I gained some more understanding. When you see someone who was very level and strong headed, seem so powerless towards a substance, it brings to light how an addiction can grab a hold of someone. Rehabilitation inpatient programs are great and can help people get sober, but I believe it is important to stay involved in AA programs after. What are your thoughts?

4. I enjoyed your post. What I found interesting is some of the sociocultural factors that could cause a male to have the erectile disorder. When a male has lost his job and must deal with financial stress, it is likely he can develop erectile difficulties. Our textbook also mentions marital stress can be linked to erectile difficulties (Comer, 2018). I can see how both reasons can lead to dysfunction. Marital and financial problems can consume a person/relationship. On the psychological side, 90%of all men who have a severe case of depression will experience some degree of erectile dysfunction (Comer, 2018).

5. Pedophilic disorder is when someone has sexual arousal towards children. This disorder is one that is very wrong and happens everywhere. There are many people out there who have this disorder. Some symptoms of this disorder is when someone is attracted to children. Some people who develop this disorder normally begin to show symptoms around adolescence stage. Another symptom that this person might have is that they do not think straight. They might think touching a younger child is alright as long as they agree to it. “While many people with this disorder believe that their feelings are indeed wrong and abnormal, others consider adult sexual activity with children to be acceptable and normal (Comer, 2018).” Some treatments for this disorder consist of aversion therapy, masturbatory satiation, congestive-behavioral therapy, and anti androgen drugs. These treatments aim to help the pedophile understand that what they are doing is wrong and to not think the way they do. They aim to help the client avoid situations that might trigger them and to help cope with it.

6. A sexual dysfunction disorder occurs when a person is unable to respond in a normal manner in key areas of sexual functioning, which makes it difficult or impossible for one to enjoy sexual intercourse. There are four phases to describe the human sexual response. The phases are desire, excitement, orgasm and resolution. The sexual dysfunction that I chose is the female sexual interest/arousal disorder which falls under the category of the desire phase. Some symptoms of this disorder are: 1) lacking in normal interest in sex 2) rarely start sexual activity 3) have little enthusiasm during sexual activity 4) have few genital sensations during sexual activities (Comer, 2018). Treatments for female sexual interest/arousal disorder could be combined with sex therapy since this disorder is a disorder of desire. Techniques used could be affectual awareness, cognitive self-instruction training, keeping a desire diary, behavioral approaches to heighten the sex drive, or hormone treatments (Comer, 2018). Also, some drugs have been developed for this type of disorder.
