Short Answer 3

Read the scenario, and then answer the question.

Scenario: Lilly is a 4-year-old in a Head Start program. She lives with her mother, who works two jobs to provide for the family, and Lilly often spends extended hours at her Head Start. Lilly has a 2-year-old cousin in the program as well and spends some nights with her aunt and uncle when her mother works an overnight shift. Lilly’s Head Start teacher, Marya, is concerned about preparing Lilly to enter kindergarten in a year and encourages her family to spend extra time reading aloud to Lilly to help build family literacy. Marya is also focusing on preventative health issues like hand washing, tooth brushing, and safety with Lilly’s class. Lilly’s Head Start is partnered with a local medical school to provide health services for children and families. Marya provides all the families in her class with information about how to utilize the medical resources to receive regular pediatric check-ups and screenings for children in the program.

In a 2- to 3-paragraph response, describe at least two important relationships among early childhood professionals in the setting. Explain how positive relationships can promote development and learning for Lilly.

Your Response

The first significant relationship is that which exists between Marya (the head start teacher) and the family. The relationship is because Marya and the family are are both Lilly's major carers. As carers they must work together to guarantee adequate care giving. The professional relationship between Marya and the local medical school is the second most significant. The connection is critical to ensure access to care for both children and families. A healthy relationship is essential for all those who care for Lilly, and it can play a big influence in her growth. This is because each of the parties, including the teacher and parents, spends a significant amount of time and effort attempting to mold the child's conduct. A positive connection can aid in the integration of their efforts, allowing for continuity of care (Smith, Cowie & Blades, 2015).

In 1–2 paragraphs, explain the early childhood professional’s responsibility regarding mandatory reporting of abuse and neglect. In your response, include at least three signs of abuse that you, as an early childhood professional, would be legally mandated to report.
Your Response

Protecting children from any illnesses is one way that early childhood professionals are required to fulfill their ethical obligation toward children, and this includes reporting any abuse or neglect of a kid. The Department of Communities, Child Safety, and Disability Services requires these professionals to report all cases of kid abuse and neglect when they have reasonable suspicion or proof, as well as when the parent refuses to safeguard the child (Smith, Cowie & Blades, 2015). Fear, sadness, rage, physical injury, and withdrawal are all signs of abuse.

Short Answer 6

Read the scenario, and then answer the question.

Scenario: James is a child in your kindergarten classroom. You notice that he sometimes appears withdrawn or despondent when interacting with adults and occasionally flinches when an adult approaches him. You have never noticed bruises or injuries, and he has never mentioned any abuse or spoken fearfully about the adults in his life.

In 2–3 paragraphs, explain the most appropriate course of action for this situation. Provide a rationale for your response.

Your Response

The first thing one should do is contact James. It's conceivable that he doesn't have someone to talk to, which is why he hasn't said anything. It is critical a teacher, to reach out and establish trust in order for him to open up. This can assist in providing information and determining whether or not there has been any misuse. The parents should be involved as the second course of action. There are three primary reasons why parents should be informed. First, they may be a source of information; they may provide further indications about what is going on, such as exhibiting little concern for James' condition, which might imply carelessness; and second, they may be unaware of James' behavior shift (Smith Cowie & Blades, 2015). Either method might assist in determining the best course of action for James.

Short Answer 7

In a 3- to 4-paragraph response, explain why it’s important for you, as an early childhood professional, to advocate for children and families. Briefly describe an issue that impacts children and families and how advocacy has promoted (or could promote) positive outcomes for children and families around this issue. Use appropriate resources, in proper APA format, to support your answer.

Your Response

Advocacy is critical in fulfilling the needs of children and families as a whole. Advocacy serves as a watchdog in some way. This is because it guarantees that all parties and sectors engaged in the delivery of child development services work together to ensure that appropriate care is provided (Berson & Berson, 2015). Advocacy is concerned with the needs of children and families. Advocacy contributes to many good changes in society and improves the well-being of the family, which is the most important functional unit in society. Advocacy contributes to the overall well-being of the community by guaranteeing the healthy functioning of families. Advocacy also acts as a type of education, ensuring that people are well-informed in carrying out their various roles. Hand washing hygiene is a problem that has a significant influence on children and their families. This has been a prominent focus of activism in recent years. Advocacy has aided in the promotion of hand washing habits among children and families as a crucial primary intervention habit in the fight against different illnesses. As a result, the rate of disease-causing germ contamination among youngsters has decreased (Pittet, Boyce & Allegranzi, 2016).
