Hello everyone. My name is Tanya. I want to thank you all for coming out.
Today I would like to teach you how to maintain your hair properly during this unprecedented time in history.
*How many of you have seen these disastrous corona haircuts online?
*Or how many of you have tried cutting your hair during this period of isolation?
Granted were are all faced with an unplanned situation where none of us could foreseen a period where all the salons across the world are closed. Covid-19 may be here for a while and therefore it is important for us to take a few tips from a professional hairstylist on how to maintain your hair.
For start I will teach you several simple ways you can use to maintain your hair during this pandemic. It is important and possible to have a healthy hair regimen despite the ongoing pandemic.
This regime includes shampooing, conditioning, moisturizing, and styling.
When it comes to Shampooing there’s 3 types to use a clarifying, color protection, and moisturizing. Shampooing your hair daily removes the natural oils and proteins that are supposed to keep your hair and scalp healthy. Also, you should choose the shampoo that aligns with what you need.
A) clarifying shampoo: Removes all the impurities, chlorine, medication out of the hair preparing a Hair by giving it a deep cleansing.
B) Moisturizing shampoo: Deeply nourishes to ensure south of strands that feels clean without stripping is natural and protective oils.
C) color protective shampoo: a shampoo that preserves and protect hair color while it strengthens and boost shine preventing the hair color from fading
If you have dry or brittle hair, I would suggest using a clarifying and a moisturizing because it’s giving you a deep cleansing and putting moisture back into your hair. If you have color treated hair a clarifying and color protection shampoo is a great combination to use.
When it comes to conditioning your hair theres a plethora of them as well. It’s just like choosing the right kind of shampoo, you have to make sure you’re choosing the right conditioner based on what your hair needs i.e. moisture, hydrating, therapeutic, and protein.
A) moisturizing conditioner: Will do exactly what the name implies, this is a great conditioner for quenching dry hair of any texture by helping restore loss nutrients and locks in moisture. Can be used on normal to dry hair. Processing time up to 10 to 15 minutes
B) hydrating conditioner: Is a moisture-balanced formula that promotes healthy and more manageable Hair. Can be used on all types of hair. Processing time after 10 minutes
C) therapeutic mellow mint conditioner: made up of 16 amino acids working to fortify the hair fiber rebuilding the hair strands. Can be used on dry, brittle and weaken hair. Processing time up to 20 minutes under the dryer with or without a process and cap
D) protein conditioner: Not only is the set invigorating exaggerates the hair strands with silicones and vitamins allowing a Hair to be manageable. Can be used on dry hair. Processing time up to 10 minutes.
If you have color treated hair you would want to use a moisturizing or hydrating conditioner leaving it on for at least 15-20 mins. If your hair is dry and brittle you would want to use a protein to nurture your hair back to where it needs to be, this conditioner should be left on for 20 mins with no plastic cap sit under a hair dryer. Now if you don’t have a hair dryer you will need a processing cap and a damp hand towel, place the damp hand towel in the microwave for 20 secs. You would need to put the processing cap on, then wrap the warm towel around your head covering the plastic cap leave it on for 20 mins. You can do the same for the moisturizing, hydrating and the mellow mint conditioner as well.
When it comes to styling your hair you will need to make sure you have the proper styling agents: leave-in conditioner, heat protective hair oil, hair foam to mold, holding spray or a humidity spray. A Leave-in conditioner is used to replaced anything that was taking out of the hair prepping it to be styled, so everyone need to use this product first. Secondly you could use a foam if your hair is short, this will create a mold affect, prepping the hair to be curled. If your hair is long you would use the leave-in and heat protective hair oil to prep the hair to be blow-dried, curled or round brushed. After the hair has been styled use a light mist of the holding spray or humidity spray to hold the hair in place.
When it comes to cutting your own hair at home. The first thing you should know about cutting your hair during this period is not to cut it, because you could mess your hair up. Which could cost you in the end! Just stay calm everything is going to be ok.
Seriously, cutting your hair short is a tricky business which should be left to the professionals.
Coloring your hair at home, is an ultimate “No No”. Doing so can lead to so many problems to your hair such as breaking off or coming out, shedding, your color may turn another color other than what you’re wanting. This would definitely result in a pricey salon visit once salons reopen. There are temporary options that will cover gray hair like the use of a temporary color gel, color shampoos, hair sprays mascara wands and color pencils, these temporary hair colors will fade after five shampoos and easily rinse off without creating any problems to your hair.
In conclusion, Just because we are in a crisis does not mean you let your just hair run wildly. This is the time to ensure you can take care of your hair... you never know there may be a stylist inside you screaming to get out!
Thanks for coming out!
