Theoretical Perspectives Year 1 Strand 1: Psychoanalytic Theory

Please select one of the following psychoanalytic topics studied this year:

a) Psychoanalysis, cultural diversity, sameness and difference and the Unconscious or

b) Observing the unconscious – projective processes and defences against anxiety In your essay, address the following aspects: 1. Introduce the topic in your own words and define the relevant psychoanalytic concepts drawing on the theoretical papers you have studied. (900 words approx.)

2. Illustrate your understanding of the psychoanalytic concepts by explaining their relevance to an example from your observation or work. (900 words approx.)
