After you review the definition of family themes on the Week 1 slides, list or describe examples of themes in your own family (consider intergenerational themes). Have these been impacted by recent events?

How would you describe your family structure and family culture? Do you have any unique and valued family rituals or traditions? If yes, list a few. From your perspective, how are the current national and global fears, challenges, issues and changes influencing families and how they are able to function, survive, and thrive in today’s world? Share one or two examples such as those related to the pandemic or racial and social injustices. List a few examples of interesting and/or meaningful depictions and representations of family life on social media, on television, and/or in literature. Do these depictions influence societal views on family and family diversity? Note whether you believe the examples you select are successful and authentic in how they reflect contemporary families in terms of race, culture, gender and all forms of diversity.
