Abstract
When dealing with homeless substance abuse patients it is most advisable to use the treatment improvement protocol. Through the protocol, the health practitioner is able to be more effective in the treatment of their respective patient who has some mental health issues (Feinstein, Dyar & Pachankis, 2017). A homeless person can mostly be defined as a person who has no access to a regular nighttime residence where it can be owned either privately or publicly the in case of home shelters.
The treatment improvement protocol, (TIP) is based on a preventative basis that the patient is put on along with their treatment plan. This is all aimed at improving the quality of life that the patient leads after the treatment. In most case, the TIP is most effective when the counselor seeks to assist a homeless person and assist them in the unique challenges and demographics.
One of the unique challenges that homeless people face is the risk of being exposed to the trauma and psychological disorder that may be as a result of being rendered homeless or even being at risk of becoming a homeless individual or family in some cases (O'KANE, 2010). To overcome these challenges the practitioner should be able to understand how to utilize the available resource that they have access to and use them effectively to help the patient. Items such as the supportive housing projects that are made available to the patient.

Introduction
In regard to therapy and psychoanalytic methods provide the counselor to understand the conditions that result in a person becoming homeless. In instances where the individual has been laid off from work and evicted due to inability to pay the mortgage or the rent. When the individual has recently been released from the prison system and has no place to go.
In cases of drug abuse, it can be due to the possibility of the individual running away from home due to drugs or being removed from a housing unit due to drug abuse. As a counselor on has a few listed goals that they should seek to achieve in order to better be able to assist the patient. To help reduce the level of risk that the patient has to be exposed to harm.
The practitioner has some tools at their disposal that they can use to create an environment that would help the patient to better be able to recover them from their situation (Feinstein, Dyar & Pachankis, 2017). The practitioner can use the psychoanalytic and dynamic skills to help the patient change the behavior, thoughts, and feeling that they have towards their current situation.
Where the therapist chooses to utilize the cognitive methods to help the client. In the therapy, the practitioner is able to remove the negative emotions that the patient has and help the patient develop a more positive approach to be able to solve the problem. By addressing the emotional and behavioral challenges that they find to be problematic to their situation.
By achieving their goals the patient can be able to achieve a life transformation, the partial or complete change in how they lea their life to be in line with the life goals that they set. By helping the patient overcome their personal, psychological issues and conditions the medical health practitioners able to better have an understanding of the challenges homeless people encounter in their situations.
In cases that the patient has some antisocial behaviors, the practitioner is able to teach the patient how to better respond and behave in social situations (O'KANE, 2010). Developing the ability to t make good choices, display genuine concern, and show respect to others are some of the skills that the practitioner is able to impact on the patient.
Through the use of a behavioral approach, the therapist can help the patient understand at what point in their history that they went wrong. Helping the patient understand the bad choices that they, made will assist them not to repeat the same mistakes in their future. Here the therapist is able to identify the high-risk behavior that the patient has and replace them with a more encouraging and socially acceptable alternative to their behavior.
In situations where there are more than one patient in the case of couples and families, the therapist should also be able to inspire change within the groups (Feinstein, Dyar & Pachankis, 2017). Here the therapist should be able to focus on how they interact with one another and other not inside their social or family circle. When one is exposed to homelessness they're at risk of being victimized by accelerating their psychological health problems. Furthermore, the practitioner should help the patient to achieve their own personal goals that they set for themselves.
Conclusion
By impacting behavior and team building practices to help the group better work together in their current situation and be able to avoid situations where being as a group can be disadvantageous to them.
The therapist should keep in mind that not all methods that they may employ may be able to impact a behavioral change on the patient. The risk of the therapist not being able to fully transform the client is always a possibility
