Case Study #18
For this discussion I have chosen case study 18, The Case of Julia. From the research that has been conducted, in my opinion Julia is having issues with her weight and the stress from school related activities. The pressure from her coach, teammates, and even herself escalated into Julia starting to worry about weight. Her weight gains were starting to cause problems in her performance as a member of the school team. When she started dieting, her performances on the school team picked up. When she got down to the weight limit (130 lbs) that she had set for herself she felt like she was on top of the world. Instead of maintaining her weight she decided to continue her diet to the point of even skipping meals. She ignored her hunger pains because she felt they were avenues that led to controlling her eating urges. She started cutting back on her socializing with her friends and even started eating alone. It was plain to her family and friends that there was something wrong, but she refused to see a doctor.
