Assignment #2 Occupations Investigations

For this assignment, your task is to investigate at least three occupations that seriously interest you. You should choose at least 1 occupation from each of the zones you examined. If the career you were considering upon entering this course did not appear as an option, you may also choose that one. In general, your choices should be based on your results from Assignment #1. For each occupation, provide the following information in complete, grammatical sentences that use your own words. You may not cut and paste any information other than salary profile information, and you must document the sources of your information. The Bureau of Labor Statistics is a good place to start looking for information.

 A detailed job description -- What does such a person do? Focus on entry-level jobs; at least 1 of your choices requiring only a bachelor's degree.

 Education required (degrees, training, work experience, etc.)  License or certification required  Anticipated availability of job when you graduate  A copy (you may cut-and-paste this information) of the salary profile for the

position or the position closest to it, from whatever website you use to gather that information. Be sure to indicate what site you used. Be sure to consider how salaries in Tennessee may differ from salaries in the nation in general.

 Why did you choose to include this occupation for this assignment? How well does the information you learned about this occupation match what you thought you already knew? How difficult would it be to get a job in this occupation?

 Is this a job that a psychology major would prepare you for or is a different major more practical? What undergraduate education is best suited for pursuing a career in this area in the future? If you don’t know, look this up.
