This week we examined many key aspects of psychology including memory, language development, and intelligence. We considered the different way individuals attain and retain memory. In the discussion about language development, we noted how children first learn phrases and then develop more sophisticated methods of constructing what they want to communicate. There are clearly defined areas of intelligence. This week we have explored what studies with Savants show us about intelligence. Savants demonstrate extraordinary abilities in one area, but little or no ability in other areas. This provides evidence that there are specific areas of intelligence. |
