Proposal

Due November 12th via Turnitin: Prospectus Rubric: Write a paper proposing an argument for your research essay. Your proposal is to be three paragraphs, 400 words minimum. This assignment is due Friday, November 12th at 11:59 p.m. via Turnitin.

I. MLA Format: MLA heading, paragraph and general essay format, and page numbers.

II. Thesis Paragraph: Although similar, this is not exactly the same as your introductory paragraph in your essays. For your Thesis Paragraph, propose and introduce your main argument and describe and explain the nature of your claim and rhetorical appeals. What are you claiming or proposing to do or not do? What are your supporting ideas (rhetorical appeals)? Explain and define why you have picked this claim and appeals within this subject with the aim of convincing the reader that this is an argument worth following.

III. Sources Paragraph: Briefly introduce the different sources that you will be analyzing in your final essay. This is not a summary paragraph, rather, as a part of your proposal, explain and describe why you choose these five sources and their connection to your main argument.

IV. So what? Paragraph: In this final paragraph of your prospectus, explain and describe what you currently see as the ‘so what?’ application of your argument. Basically, why does this argument matter within a larger context?
