ABSTRACT (ABSTRACT) [John Draper], who once tutored Apple Computer (AAPL) founders Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak in the art of
ripping off Ma Bell, swears that his hacking days are behind him. FULL TEXT By Bruce Sullivan, [email protected]
He's baaack. Legendary phone hacker John Draper, who became famous in 1971 when he figured out how to make
free telephone calls using toy whistles enclosed in Cap'n Crunch cereal boxes, is back in the news.
According to the New York Times, Draper 57, who is better known by his obvious nickname "Captain Crunch," is
starting, with a small group of partners, an Internet security software and consulting firm in Silicon Valley called
ShopIP.
Draper, who once tutored Apple Computer (AAPL) founders Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak in the art of ripping off
Ma Bell, swears that his hacking days are behind him. He told the Times that he is ready to "pay back society" for
his cyberspace transgressions, and that he has experienced "a real change in direction" in his life. DETAILS
