Why did you choose this movie?

I chose pieces of a woman movie because it explains how home birth can sometimes turn to be heartbreaking especially when there is complication either to the mother or the unborn child. The movie, it's stated how difficult childbirth ended in a tragedy as Martha finds herself lost in a sea of grief after losing her child. It enlightens viewers the importance of doing things in a proper manner such as giving birth in hospitals where there are adequate care and health equipment instead of risking the lives of the unborn child and the mother by opting to give birth at home.

4. Criteria Choice

In what area is the movie the strongest?

The movie is at its strongest when exploring those cavernous silences and such unimaginable grief.

Briefly explain why you think this is the strongest:

This is the strongest area as bearing in mind that you have lost your child can be a very heartbreaking moment to you. For instance, right after childbirth incidence, Martha returns to work and her reactions and physical appearance could tell how depressed and heartbroken she was.

What is at least one other area in which the movie is strong?

The movie also shows a stronger scene when Martha returned from escorting Sean to the airport. This scene was slow and simple, but it was a powerful moment for Martha’s turning point.

In what area is the movie the weakest?

The movie is less strong when the perspectives shift back to Sean's side of the story as he is forced to go down a checklist of the self-destructive bad behavior which contributes very little to the heart of the story.

Briefly explain why you think this is the weakest:

It was a weak point of the story as it only describes the bad behaviors attributed by Sean.

What is at least one other area in which the movie is weak?

The negligence of the midwife can also be described as a weak scene of the drams as it distracts the already powerful movie.

What other strengths or weaknesses did you notice in the movie that is not covered by the list of criteria?

The strength that I noted from the movie is when Martha and Sean wanted to have a sexual moment but due to their fading relations and lack of communication, the two gave up after Martha couldn't get off her pants.
