They contain medical history of patients, treatment plans for different patients, diagnoses, medications, information about patients’ allergies, laboratory tests and immunization dates, and test results (Simpson, 2015). The system allows for quick access to evidence-based strategies that can be used by health care providers for effective decision making.

With the use of mobile apps, patient data is protected by ensuring that the access to medical records is controlled and only authorized persons get access to the medical records. For instance, a patient can only access his/her information with the patient being required to provide validation details prior to gaining access to the medical records.
