Purpose: To inform

Audience: classroom peers

Question: What are the most effective behavioral therapies for autistic children?

Description: Autism is a neurobiological disorder affecting more children now than ever before. The need for autism awareness and education to all of society is great, as the statistics for those affected continue to rise. While there is no known cure, there are numerous therapies that can help autistic individuals learn to function as valuable members of their communities. I intend to describe specific therapies that have been proven to be most beneficial to decrease undesired behaviors while increasing desired behaviors in children affected by this disorder. I will put emphasis on social skills, sensory therapy, and applied behavioral analysis.
