Proposal Essay
Proposal Checklist
· Is the topic of the paper specific enough?
· Do you identify the problem you are proposing a solution for in the first paragraph?
· Do you have a thesis as the final sentence of the intro paragraph?
· Reminder, thesis is:
· The topic + The purpose + The solution
· Is the solution you are proposing plausible? DO NOT say that “awareness” or creating “awareness” or a campaign is the solution. It’s not.
· If you are going to use subheads, are they in 12-point font, Times New Roman (like the rest of your paper) and centered on the paper.
· If you don’t know what to call your subheads, use the titles of the video lessons. (Introduction, Problem Analysis, Drafting the Plan, Benefits of the Plan, Conclusion)
· Are your subheads NOT in bold, italics, underlined or in any way visually emphasized?
· Does your paper have a title? (Proposal Essay is not the title)
· Make sure, if you are using subheads, that they are centered but your paragraphs are not.
· Is your paper in correct MLA format?
· Did you use in-text citations (there are no commas in in-text citations between the name and the page number).
· Are your sources only from the databases and/or the New York Times?
· Are your citations on your Works Cited page in hanging indentions?
· Are your citations in alphabetical order?
· Did you double check that you had enough sources (look on assignment sheet)
· Are summaries and paraphrases cited correctly in your paper?
· Is your paper long enough (look on assignment sheet for length limits).
· Did you go to the writing lab for help?
· Did you ask for help from the writing lab or professor when you didn’t understand something?
· Did you run the paper through Grammarly?
