Proposal: Zindagi Bhar Nahin Bhoolegi Analysis

This paper will focus on theThe song "Zindagi Bhar Nahin Bholegi - In my life I will never forget” from film Barsaat ki Raat – Rainy Night (1960). This song is about a man who meets a beauty on a rainy night which turns out to be the best night that the man will never forget. He gives a vivid description of the lady who made his heart to stir. The lady was startled by the thunder and lightning making her curl like a ball. When she tried to dry the wetness from her face, she seemed to send a fiery arrow through the heart of the man. The man concludes that the lady was a completion of all his youthful dreams as she had descended from heaven. The main theme of the song is thus a man who is love struck.

Zindagi Bhar Nahin Bhoolegiwas sung by Rafi. The actors in the song include Bharat Bhushan and Madhubala. The relevant themes relevant in the song includes the theme of love. It has covered the topic of musical elements that are prevalent in the song. His includes rhyme and alliteration. The song is not bound by the length of the number of lines for each if the stanzas. The couplets are also not constant (Hitting the Right Notes, 72). This can be seen in the fact that the first stanza has only three lines while the second stanza has six lines.

One of the musical elements used in the song is rhyme and repetition. There is rhyme used in the song by the use of the word raat (night). This brings in rhythmic in the song that makes it easier to learn the words of the song. Additionally, there is repetition of sentences in the song in form of couplets. For example, the sentence “Zindagi bhar nahin bhoolegi...” which means that “I will never forget it for the rest of my life...” has been used as the last sentence in all stanzas of the song. This creates a phonetic effect (Progressive poetry and film lyrics, 129), that that makes the song to sound extremely good as its written to be sung. This gives the listeners more opportunities to listen and hear the words of the song.
