Thesis Statement:

During the 1600s American Indians knew that French colonists bought diseases to New France;

therefore, they rejected the French efforts to colonize New France. These diseases included small

pox, influenza, and the common cold, all of which killed many Indians. The mission of St. Marie

is the most dramatic example of this.
