1. Research topic

1.1 Title of the Project:

The future of recycle the marble cutting and making use of it in maintaining the efficiency of Alzarabi Company.

1.2 Nature of the problem or issue:

Marble has many characteristics and characteristics that qualify it to be a valuable rock in many industries. Where it is used in the building and sculpture in order to distinguish aesthetics as used in the manufacture of medicines and pharmaceuticals and cosmetic and paint because of the contain several chemical elements (Geology,2017).

Al-Zarabi Company is one of the most important companies specialized in producing marble in Oman. The company suffers from the waste high quantity of ready-made marble due to breakage and inability to exploit or sell it. These marble residues have a negative impact on the environment, but also because marble contains many chemicals that damage the environment. In addition, the company loses materially because it pays large amounts of money to buy components. The main objective of this research is to study the recycling of marble cutting in AL-Zarabi Company and the positive impacts interim of company economic and environment. Comment by Khalid Salim Said Al Kalbani: I would prefer to write “The main objective” rather than the basic idea

Although this project will cost the company huge sums to set up, it is only a very good consideration of the project so far. The profit forecast is much higher than the expectation of loss especially since the company after the implementation of this project will enter the competitive field with many companies operating in the same field. In addition, the company will be qualified to produce more materials than the quantities that are produced in the current period. Comment by Khalid Salim Said Al Kalbani: are produced

1.3 The Aims, Objectives, and Research Questions/Hypotheses:

1.1 The project will discuss the negative factors, which lead Al-Zarabi company to recycle the cut marble and how would they impact the efficiency of the company's productivity. This topic has been chosen because of a discussions and arguments about if really Al-Zarabi Company need this project. The project objective of this research is to study the recycling of marble cutting in Al-Zarabi company and the positive impacts interim of company economic and environment . Comment by Khalid Salim Said Al Kalbani: the objective of your research should be matched with the title of your research.I would prefer to use this objective:“The objective of this research is to study the recycling of marble cutting in AL-Zarabi Company and the positive impacts interim of company economic and environment”OrYou could use to objectives:The one I mentioned above To study the aim that lead Al Zarabi company for planning recycling the wastes of marble.

1.2 This research can enrich the student knowledge in logistic and economic filed of all the marble manufactures. Moreover, it is very convenient topic for me to write about it because of good background about this topic.

1.3

1.4 Main Question

1.5 How the recycle of marble cutting would impact on the efficiency and productivity of Al-Zarabi Company?

1.6 Sub – questions

1.7 What is the aim from recycle marble cutting?

1.8 What are the products that can be produced from the marble cutting?

1.9 What is the impacts from recycling marble cutting in term of labour, environment, economic, and performance of the company?

1.10 Hypotheses:

This research will help the company achieve its goal of increasing its effectiveness. Recycling is important because it will benefit the owners of factories, that the recycling of these wastes, if the proven economic feasibility of it profitable will create new industries for owners of marble factories, will require the purchase of machinery and equipment modern and will inject large capital funds in addition to the employment of new labor.

2. Background and context of the study

2.1 How Did the Problem or Issue Arise?

Al-Zarabi Company seeks to improve and increase its productivity and efficiency. Due to marble cutting that the company wasting during the cutting marble by machine. That cutting amount of marble syllable is enough to load three trucks per day says (Dr Al-Blushi, 2017). The company found that the quantity is too large to take consider and avoid the daily payment for truck owners who responsible for disposing of this amount. Furthermore, the amount of marble cutting stored into the company and it takes spaces for a long time until the government comes to take it and get rid of the marble pieces, also the company should pay for the government through the service. Comment by Khalid Salim Said Al Kalbani: would you please provide a reference for this statement? Put a citation

2.2 Why is it an important topic to study?

Most of the marble company in the world has same issues of leftover marble some of the marble company has improved these issues by doing recycling of marble. In Oman, the marble company still getting rid of the leftover marble without taking advantage of marble cutting. I found the AL-Zarabi Company as a good example for study this issue in the deep matter. In addition, I believe this topic will help the society and the company itself to invest new project and this topic could improve to open the doors of many. The improvement will impact not only for economic sector also the environment. Recycled marble cutting wasted wealth must be dealt with in an economic way and exploited the best exploitation. The waste of marble during the transfer from quarries to factories reached about 25% of the product (Dr Al-Blushi, 2017). By recycling, the company can produce more by from these wastes, notably the concrete industry and paving roads, and production of calcium carbonate and used in many industries, including cement and paints. The research topic is very useful and beneficial to all kind of study, which related to improving the manufacturing planning. During research, it is expected to face challenges and difficulties because the project not bulling yet, so the information will be very limited and can’t be found easily from different resources for that I need to build good knowledge about by making some interviews and question and the observation and investigation will be mandatory.

Provide definitions of key terms or concepts:

Marble: Marble is a metamorphic rock composed of recrystallized carbonate minerals, most commonly calcite, or dolomite. Marble may be foliate. In geology, the term "marble" refers to metamorphosed limestone, but its use in stonemasonry more broadly encompasses metamorphosed limestone. Marble is commonly used for sculpture and as a building material.

Recycle: is a raw material that is sent to, and processed in a waste recycling plant or materials recovery facility, which will be used to form new products.

Quarries: place, typically a large, from which stone or other material is or have been extracted. The materials extracted from the quarries - used broadly in the local building industry.

Point out the limitations imposed:

Time constraints of the project completion and submission is less than may be ideal for a comparative study as will not have the full results because the research is limited in gathering relabel information. What I mean is that I could get access to the information in AL-Zarabi company however it would be difficult to get such information from the other companies. As a result the comparison variables will be limited to assumptions of the other companies figures

3. Methodology

3.1 Research Method (e.g., qualitative, quantitative, or mixed) and justification for approach:

mixed research is the method that will be implemented in the study. The qualitative method will lead in order to understand the how the recycle of marble cutting would increase the efficiency of AL-Zarabi company and how this project would have made benefit for society and economy. The information will be collected from questioners and interviews. While the qualitative will lead in order to see financial figures before and after implementation of wastage recycle procedures. The information will be collected from field visiting and personal interview. Comment by Khalid Salim Said Al Kalbani: I would encourage you to add quantitative method, because I need to see financial figures before implementation of recycling and after implementation.Because you have to measure how the company will be efficient in terms of her financial and economics performance.

3.2 Tools of data collection (e.g., questionnaire, interviews, focus groups, documentary analysis):

The research will consist of ten to fifteen questionnaires that will be distributed to different participant working or having knowledge in the marble business to understand their opinions, reasons and benefit from the recycle marble cutting. In addition, interviews will be conduct with managers in AL-Zarabi Company and its competitive. Comment by Khalid Salim Said Al Kalbani: For me, 8 questionnaires are not enough. Why only distributing for AlZabi Staff? Try to approach other companies in the same field and look for their opinions.Second thing, you have to argue me why you decided to use those tools questionnaire and interviews? How those tools are gonna to help you to find and answer for your main question as well as your main topic.Thirdly you said will distribute to questionnaire to staff. Now who are these targeted staff?

According to (interviews, 2006) The main advantages of interviews are:

· they are useful to obtain detailed information about personal feelings, perceptions and opinions.

· its allows to ask in details.

· they usually achieve a high response rate.

· the conversation will be recorded.

· you can follow up if you get incomplete answer.

· precise wording can be tailored to respondent and precise meaning of questions clarified (eg for students with English as a Second Language)

· interviewees are not interrupted by others answer.

· in one to one conversation the interviewees will be confidant.

4. Literature Review

4.1 Demonstrate familiarity with the different literature needed

Without a doubt, the decision of the company in the recycling of marble waste is very successful; on the other hand, there are many questions should have answered. What is the aim of recycling marble? What is the impact of recycling marble? How the recycle of marble could be made positive impacts to economic and environment? How much money will spend on marble recycling? How will the community benefit from this project?

The recycle of marble cutting will give Al-Zarabi company good chance should be exploited to improve its relations with investors and stakeholders. Moreover, it will consolidate the logistic operations with logistics and transportation companies. The research will be more efficient by using information from different trusted resources and collect information as much as can to understand the topic from different sides.

"Building Materials" calls for the recycling of marble and granite waste

On November 22, 2017, an article was published on the importance of recycling marble waste under the title " "Building Materials" calls for the recycling of marble and granite waste" by Hamat Salama and Samah Abdel Hamid.

The project idea comes from Mustafa Kamal Environmental expert and head of the International Center for Environment and Development in Egypt.

The topic of the article revolves around the importance of recycling marble pieces because there are large quantities of waste accused of wasting instead of making use of them. He stressed that the recycling of marble pieces left behind by factories is a case that should be discussed with a view to material benefit, which is an estimate at about 1.8 million Egyptian pounds. In addition, it is a good opportunity for investors in this field.

Waste recycling is a national project, noting that it is possible to benefit from the process of manufacturing waste in the manufacture of concrete and paving roads, and can be used in the production of calcium carbonate and the manufacture of bricks and paints, fertilizers, ceramics and tiles, adding that the companies must seek marble and granite to invest in this The field to solve the problem of disposal of the remnants of marble and granite.

Therefore, the Center for the modernization of industries stressed the support of this project if it has economic returns as the committee identified with the factories that will participate in the implementation of the project to reach the results of the study.

Feasibility Study of Industrial Unit for Preparation and Recycling of Marble and Granite Wastes

Researcher Hebatalrahman Ahmed, Consultant in materials sciences and materials applications made a research under tittle “Preparation and Recycling of Marble and Granite Wastes” 3.11.2011

In general, the research talked about the way that use to separate the marble and granite from the other vehicles with a view to recycling and use in other industries.

The most important points discussed by the study are natural and environmental influences. Marble residues cause harmful smoke and environmental pollution and damage the plant itself and the area surrounding it (community and population). As well as pollution of water, as the factories of marble and granite near the water, bodies are throwing waste into the water.

At the end of this study, the desired research results were achieved which are the objectives of the process of recycling marble and granite, assessment of working forces and expected employment, capital, labor costs, operating costs, risk assessment and expected crises.

Recycling of Afyon-Iscehisar marble waste in transparent stoneware glaze recipes

Written by Selvin Yeşilay in April 2017.

This study focuses on the manufacture of stone glass, which made from the recycling of marble waste and the headquarters of this factory in Turkey in the city of Afyon-Iscehisar. The stone glass product contains several components, the most important of which is the marble cutting, which reaches 40% of the ratio. Also used are certain kinds of paint, all made from marble cutting? The results of the research indicate that the use of marble residues in the production of transparent rock shale to be of high quality.

The researcher stressed in this research that the project of recycling marble cutting is very important to the environment so that the use of waste can adversely affect the environment. Reducing waste and recycling is a key element in sustaining natural resources and minimizing the use of raw materials and manufactured products as well as reducing water and air pollution. This project will focus on how the recycling of marble cutting in AL-Zarabi Company would lead to increase the efficiency of the company and how it will effect to the local, economic and environment.
