Writing Guidelines

500- 600 words per entry, and use a font like Times New Roman, Helvetica, or something similar that is easy to read. You do not have to format the journal in any particular way, but simply make sure you clearly label at the top of the page the number of the journal entry you are writing. Please make sure that when you arrange your document for each turn-in that they are all there, and all in order. So, for the first journal turn in, please have all 8 of the first entries (#s 1-8) in one document and upload that through the submission link.

Short prompts for each of your entries have been added, and I want you to approach the writing process with thoughtfulness and care. These are not formal academic essays, but should represent high quality writing, nonetheless, so do not write them as stream-of-conscious entries immediately after you finish the reading assignment. Take some time to process your thoughts before you begin each entry and think through what you want to say. You can read in detail the grading rubric I have provided to see what counts as A, B, C material for your journals, but I’ll be grading your entries based upon the following 4 criteria:

1. Writing Quality

2. Critical Engagement

3. Depth

4. Personal Reflection
