Promoting Positive Behaviour
Introduction
The behavior and self-esteem of a child is most likely to be influenced and increased by meaningful rewards and attendance. Children who emulate positive behaviours should always be promoted through rewards as a way of recognizing good behaviour. Positive behaviour promotion encourages children to be more productive, constructive and also act as role models to others. This essay discusses ways of promoting behaviour including bullying, attendance and effectiveness of rewards and sanctions.
Bullying is an aspect of bad behaviour. Schools should review policies and guidelines governing this act as a way of preventing strategy. For instance, School codes and policies should be implemented with regard to positive school ethics. Supervision in play grounds should be adequate to prevent bullying in the quest of promoting and fostering positive behaviour. A teacher or assistant could also issue warnings of bad behaviour by explaining an appropriate behaviour to be considered, behaviour target to be achieved and the possible consequences of continued negative behaviour. Also, emotional and social aspects of learning should be incorporated as well as raising awareness and implementing anti-bullying strategies. However, assistants should emulate a positive behaviour as they are role models of children.
It is the role of school staff to offer rewards as a way of promoting, confirming and praising a positive behaviour for others to follow. Children who turn up early for school should be praised. Also, issuing of certificates of attendance together with an award of praise from school head teacher ensures students show up every day thus improving class attendance a well as enhancing effective learning and progress.
Positive behaviour is said to be effective when it is successfully delivered: When the school assistant and staff consistently employs strategies promoting positive behaviour, students adhere to the policies, codes and ethics of the school as well as self-respect and respect for others.
