PROJECT SUMMARY 2

Project Summary

Broadcasting and telecommunications company Charter Communications, Inc. offers its

customers spectrum-branded services. It provides services to over 25 million clients across forty-

one states, making it the second-largest broadband operator in the U.S after Comcast Company

(Charter Communications, 2022). It is the sixth largest home phone service provider regarding

subscriber base size. This firm has been a significant player in communications for quite some

time. Because of this, it has consistently been profitable, and it has consistently been able to

outmaneuver its competitors in the market. However, the company has recently faced stiff

competition from other giant communication firms. Charter Communications serves individual

consumers and businesses with various services as a media and communications company.

Offerings include basic and digital videos, top-quality channels, pay-per-view, digital recording

devices, online streaming services; Internet access; gaming, news, and sports coverage; and

telecommunication services (Loutskina, 2018). The company was established by Barry B., J.

Kent, and H. Wood in 1993.

Statement of Scope

Competitors from other telecommunications companies have recently emerged as a significant

challenge for Charter Communications. Therefore, I plan to investigate the factors contributing

to this intense market rivalry and the strategies that might be used by businesses facing a similar

predicament. This business is well-suited to the task because it has been a communications sector

giant for decades. However, increased competition in the market has been eating away at its

profits as of late. If left unchecked, this is a grave issue that might spell disaster for the business.

PROJECT SUMMARY 3

Information related to the issue above will be collected by perusing the aforementioned corporate

publications and reports on the company's website and articles from reliable sources with proven

track records, such as the Wall Street Journal. These sites will offer the chance to learn about any

recent corporate events. The time that would have been lost traveling to the firm's headquarters

to seek information from the employees will also be saved. However, there are inherent risks

associated with utilizing the internet as a data source. For example, finding reliable sources that

can be used for data retrieval can be challenging. Using data backups from reputable, peer-

reviewed sources can mitigate these risks.

Demonstration of project outcomes

This course will equip me with the skills I need to succeed in a managerial role in any

organization. For example, executives must develop plans for Charter Communications to ensure

growing market share in the face of rivalry. Thus, as a leader in a firm, I will use my knowledge

of business systems, operations, and technology to successfully manage the firm's operations and

deal with competitive situations in the market.

The Charter Communications case enlightens me because it gives me a unique opportunity to

showcase my leadership skills by demonstrating my ability to integrate information from various

sources and apply my judgment to make decisions about a business's efficient operation. Having

prepared myself with knowledge from a wide range of fields, I will be in a position to lead

initiatives that will establish the company as a formidable competitor.

Compared to its rivals, notably Comcast Company, Charter Communications has not been keen

on keeping pace with technological advancements. The key to a company's long-term success is

its capacity to respond to shifting consumer preferences and market conditions, which can be

ensured by leaders who actively encourage innovation (Fatemifar et al., 2020). So, as a leader, I

will develop novel techniques and methods to satisfy consumer needs, cutting down on rivalry in

the market. If I am in a position of authority, I can use the information presented to me to make

judgments that will help prevent the problem from worsening.

Conclusion

To sum up, the goal of Charter Communication is to increase the company's client base through

the mutually beneficial efforts of its employees, management, and consumers. A company can

strengthen its customer base by analyzing its strengths and shortcomings and adjusting

accordingly (Fatemifar et al., 2020). Although Charter Communications is a dominant global

player in the communications sector, it faces intense competition. Competition poses a

significant threat to many businesses. In light of this, taking Charter's situation of intense rivalry

as an example, I can demonstrate leadership characteristics when placed in a similar position.
