Accounting Analytics Project Step One Assignment Grading Rubric

Students will model the business process for their entity in their assigned industry. This requires most students to think “outside of the box.” Effort counts in this assignment. Thus, the grading of this assignment is more subjective than other assignments. My goal for grading this assignment is to return to you a model that is accurate and ready for you to continue to the next step in the design of your project prototype. In general, the more time I spend improving your design results in more grade deductions. There are some other important points I consider when grading.

Complexity and critical thought:

If the student captures a more complex business process that requires critical thinking, fewer points are deducted for mistakes in the model than for mistakes made by students capturing a process that does not require critical thinking. That is, students who make simple mistakes on models – where the exact model was discussed during a lecture and the solution is available for students on the course site – will receive fewer overall points and larger deductions for errors on the model.
