Please upload your 2-page Overview proposal in APA format here before the start of class on July 13 in MS-Word.  See the syllabus for a description of Assignment 1. 

I will edit it and give it back to you. I will discuss each proposal (privately) with each student.

You Are: Creating a Predictive Analytics Business;  You make predictions after analyzing volumes of data

You are Not:  Selling PCs; Analyzing someone's business to improve their sales

Question of assignment2.

Assignment 2: Cloud Services. A 3-5 page APA original paper in MS-Word describing your approach to using Cloud services in your (imaginary) Data Analytics firm.  You can choose to use Cloud services or not to use Cloud services.  If you choose to use Cloud services your choices include things like SAAS, PAAS, IAAS, DBAAS, Desktop As a service, and others, and you must name your expected CSP. 

If you choose to NOT use cloud services you must state the hardware and software you expect to acquire, what you think it will cost, whom will install and maintain it, how many employees you will hire to support it, and what data center you will rent/build to house it, plus any DR considerations.

DO NOT EDUCATE THE READER – JUST TELL WHAT YOU PLAN TO DO. For instance you would NOT spend 2 pages of writing telling me that SaaS means X and PaaS means Y, etc. I know this. You know this. Everyone already knows this.  Just tell me what you plan to use (if any) and why.

It's OK to change your topic from Assignment 1 to Assignment 2.  However you and I need to agree on your topic NOW.

Question of assignment3:

Assignment 3: Big Data and Data Warehouse. A 3-5 page APA original document in MS-Word describing your approach to using Big Data.  Where does it come from?  Where/How will you store it?  What is the format of your database?

Question of assignment 4:

Assignment 4:  Network and Workflow.  A 3-5 page APA original document in MS-Word describing the Network and your workflow for your (imaginary) Data Analytics company. 

You should include a Network Diagram and a Workflow Diagram ( or Dataflow Diagram ).

 

DO NOT EDUCATE THE READER BY SAYING "A ROUTER DOES THIS AND A SWITCH DOES THAT..."

INSTEAD, TELL THE READER WHAT NETWORK FEATURES YOU WILL USE AND WHY.

Question of assignment 5:

Assignment 5:  Security and BCP/DR. A 3-4 page APA original document in MS-Word describing your Information Security and DR approach. This will include your assessment of the value of your data and analytics, and will explain how your approach to security and to DR matches the value of your data
