Running head: CONCRETE BRICK PRODUCTION 1
CONCRETE BRICK PRODUCTION 2
Concrete Brick Production Project John Mitchell Business 375 Professor: Franklin Mitchell 05/15/2017 Strayer University Concrete Brick Production Project Concrete bricks are made from mixture cement, gravels and sand. The project will entail large production of bricks and culverts at the clients’ request. The project will be established on a 20 acres land where 15 acres will be used in running the project and 5 acres of the land for construction of both staff and non-staff members quarters. The grand project cost will one hundred thousand U.S dollars which will be partitioned in purchasing and establishing to the project to operation phase, after which the project will be able to run on its own and generate profit. The materials in the project are ballasts/gravel, cement, sand and other few gradients for improving the quality of the products. The project will employ fifty working personnel to work in different units and department. The project will partner with Qwark Industry, one of the largest cement industry in the country and the local government, which will be our share-holders in the project running. The partners will hold a maximum of 40% the share in the project, this will correspond to the ration of profit they will gain after a greed period of disbursement. The project will have potential clients both locally, nationally and internationally. Project goals To provide construction bricks at an affordable price and of good quality. The bricks that will be produced will be sold at a lower price as compared to both stone and clay bricks. To provide alternative brick source a part from clay and bricks whose production involves environmental degradation. People rely on stone and clay bricks generally because of lack of alternative brick, thus the concrete brick will be the best alternative for the consumers. To accomplish our clients’ needs by providing the products of the own interest. Our project will be at best with the clients by providing a caring and listening platform where all their needs and demands are met. Objectives To establish alternative and quality bricks to our clients without environmental degradation. To provide employment opportunity to both the locals and the professional during the project running phase. To ensure that the construction bricks are available to our clients and at a lower price. Stakeholders and Project Phases During the project running phase, the potential clients identified are: building and construction companies, local residents, intermediaries, or suppliers. The clients will reach our project site via road since the area is accessible. The construction phase of the project development facilities will take a period of three months and will involve setting up the area where the project will be carried, identification raw materials provider and recruitment of suitable staff that will run the project under the supervision of identified professionals. During the operation phase, the cement will be obtained from Qwark Industry, concrete from the local excavators and ballast workers who will also be part of the project employees, sand will be acquired from different timely providers permitted by both the local and the national government and finally other additional requirements will be acquired by tender. After constructing of a given number of bricks as ordered by the clients, they will be transported via trucks, lorries, tractors or any other means from the project site to the final destination for further usage. The transport services will be offered to the clients at a given subsidized fees as after sale service depending on the distance of transportation. The project will operate for a period of twenty five years before being decommissioned having met its goals and objectives. Project Milestones The expected milestone to be achieved by the project include, provision of the bricks at a cheaper price that is affordable to the locals and the internal community in general, eliminate the overreliance on the stone and clay brick as their production is not suitable for the environmental use by the future project, Etxeberria M, Vázquez E, Marí A, & Barra M(2007); both the clay and stone brick even though produced cheaply and locally, the immediate impact of their excavation is felt by the local themselves. In addition, the project aims at providing job opportunity to both local workers as casual or professional level and also employing of professionals from other regions to accomplish the project to its decommissioning phase. Expected Challenges in Project Implementation The greatest challenge that is expected from the brick is competition from clay and stone bricks as the perception of people is that they are best and no any alternative bricks can overrun them. Therefore, more resources will be used in convincing and acquiring of clients to buy the products. A further challenge is the consistency in finding of reliable sand providers, the country has put in place several policies that inhibit the extraction of sand, thus for effective supply of sand the project will rely on government and other agencies to provide permit allowing excavation of sand which will be costly. In conclusion, the project will be successful in accomplishing its goals and objectives with most of project requirements set to be put in place. The project will entail large production of bricks and culverts at the clients’ request. The project will be established on a 20 acres land where 15 acres will be used in running the project and 5 acres of the land for construction of both staff and non-staff members quarters. It will be one of the greatest projects that largely serve many clients with environmental friendly products, a vision from sustainable development goals.
