Introduction:
The hiring company for the purpose of this project is assumed to be the Richard Allen Inc. which is a sales and marketing firm based in Long Island area, New York. The company seeks to hire a qualified individual who will fill in the position of Sales and Marketing Account Manager - Sales Associate. The role of the successful candidate will be developing and executing strategic and marketing plans for the clients of Richard Allen Inc. and managing all areas of clients’ business relationship. The position will require a Bachelor's degree in either Marketing or Communications. The candidate must be enthusiastic, punctual, hardworking and have string organizational skills.
Recruitment Sources:
In order to inform qualified candidates about this vacancy, the firm will make use of recruiting firms and placement of an advert on the company’s website. The recruiting firms to be used are KAS Placement Company and Lucas Group Inc. These two firms will link Richard Allen Inc with qualified candidates. The two hiring firms will only be paid after the successful headhunt for a candidate who ends up getting hired. The other recruitment source, which is the website of Richard Allen Inc will be a good avenue to inform people that the company is hiring. Advertising through a firm’s own website is economical since no extra costs are incurred.
Selection Process:
After qualified candidates have sent in their applications, the selection process starts. The selection process is very important because the production and performance value that companies get depends on how effective the selection process was when hiring new employees (Travis, 2015). The first step of the selection process is criteria development. This involves training all individuals that will be involved in the whole hiring process about matters such as reviewing resumes, coming up with good interview questions, interviewing and weighting candidates (Travis, 2015). The chosen criteria should be directly related to the job specifications of the Sales and Marketing Account Manager - Sales Associate position.
The next stage should be reviewing of applications and resumes. Different people have different methods of going through this process. Computer programs can also be used to search for keywords from résumés and narrow down the total number of résumés that have to be reviewed (Yate, 2005). This narrows down the whole interviewing process to only 20 candidates since the interviewing panel cannot manage to interview fifty or a hundred candidates who send their applications. During the interview stage, the following list of legal and situational questions will be asked;
1. Tell us about yourself
2. What is your understanding and protection of client data?
3. Assume that none of our clients uses social media, would it be ethical or us to go ahead and use it on their behalf?
4. If one of our client companies has a new product coming out in three months, what would you do to launch it?
5. What are your salary expectations?
6. Why did you leave your previous job?
7. Describe your best technique for closing a sale and tell me of a situation when this technique was successful.
8. Why do you love marketing?
9. If a client emailed you asking for company information that you are not supposed to give out in your capacity, what action would you take?
10. What blogs do you follow online to keep abreast with emerging marketing trends?
The last two stages of the selection process are the administering of tests and making of the offer to the successful candidate. A cognitive test will be administered in order to measure the reasoning and logic skills of the candidates who pass the interview stage. This test will also test their ability to learn new material and their reading comprehension (Travis, 2015). Finally the successful candidate is offered the position of Sales and Marketing Account Manager - Sales Associate. The offer can be defined via an email or a letter. All benefits and compensation details are disclosed in the offer.
